Also you can't go too far wrong with a nice serum or facial oil!I agree about finding key items that work. Saves so much money in the long run. I'd still use up what you have unless you feel a particular product is causing problems. What skin concerns do you have? Once you've pinpointed this have a look at various websites and see what range(s) fit your budget and address your concerns. Look at reviews. Makeupalley is great because reviewer's skin types are included. Post on here for our views.
For me a product's value (after effectiveness) is how long a pot/tube will take to UU. For example some years ago I tried Gatineau Force Collagen serum. It was gorgeous however the full size only lasted me a month. It was £50 at the time so for me this is poor value as I don't want to spend £50 a month..
I'm using a moisturiser called Cult51 as a night cream at the moment. I got a sample size as part of my LookFantastic calendar last year. It smells nice and overall it's not a bad moisturiser but it's £125 for 50ml! And it doesn't do anything special.
Thanks for the nod about makeupalley; I will definitely look there. I think, more than anything this thread and my attempts to buy less have made me want to research things before I buy them and I keep a list of things I want to buy at some point.
While I'm not having a bad month so far in terms of INs, I'm going to keep an eye on the Black Friday deals because if there are some really good ones for things I want, I'm not cutting my nose off to spite my face buy not buying them on an offer.0 -
Good luck with your interview Gemzie! Getting two interviews is an achievement in itself so well done on that!
And congrats evilsquid! So glad it went well for you. We'll say the 96 INs are a wedding present to yourself!
I have some UUs:
12. Molton Brown Orange and Bergamot mini Body Wash WMBA. Not my favourite MB scent so far but still nice and would happily use again from another gift set.
13. Ikea Apple scented candle WBA. These are great for the price.
14. The Body Shop English Dawn White Gardenia Fragrance Mist WDBA. I love this. I was so pleased when they made it permanent. I have other perfumes/body sprays to use but will probably pick this up when there's an offer I like on The Body Shop. I don't think I've ever paid full price for anything in there!
And one IN:
Wet and Wild Walking on Eggshells Eyeshadow Trio. I was buying something else on Amazon and this had been 'saved for later' in my basket and the price had dropped to less than £2 so I bunged it in with my order. I've seen a lot of this online and it looks right up my alley for everyday.
I had given my nails a break for a week or so because they were a bit fragile but I painted them last night with Blueberry from the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine range. It's nothing like the colour of blueberries, it's a slightly lavender toned sky blue and it's lovely. I really like this formula and the shape of Barry M brushes. I got this one in a Black Friday deal. Argos have a set of eight of this range for £11.99 and I think they're normally £3.99 each so it was a very good deal.
Hope everyone's having a good weekend!0 -
A few more UU from my Sunday afternoon bath:
19. Lush Xmas Pud Bath Bomb WBA - this was the freebie I got the other week. Wasn't sure about the fragrance before using it but smelt amazing in the bath, turned my bath water pink and I can now smell it on my skin
20&21. Two mini bath bombs - these came in a set last Christmas and I found them in my stash today. Didn't smell of much so I chucked them in the bath with the Lush bath bomb to use them up.
22. Tresemme Conditioner 100ml WMBA - this was the last travel sized conditioner in my stash. I've actually grown to like this conditioner so may buy again.
23. Lush Cosmetic Catastrophe Face Mask WBA - this was a recent birthday gift and I really liked it! Loved the texture and it seemed to calm my sensitive skin. Will save the empty pot until I have enough for a free face mask.0 -
Oh dear - I am on the naughty step!
Went to Chester for a day of wandering around the Christmas Market - was very measured and only picked up a few gifts. Then it started to rain so I wandered into PoundWorld while waiting for OH. Surprised to find some branded makeup in there...
NYC skin matching illuminizer
Collection 2000 Fix Me Up
Collection BB Secrets
FusionBeauty Illumicover
NYC Color Wheel mosiac face powder
Model Co Hydrating self tanning gel
I'm having a few issues at work, and feeling quite down about it all so wondering if that's why I caved. In fairness, they are all things I will either use myself or pass on to DDs and being from a poundshop the damage is limited. No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0 -
2 ins. Superdrug Hot Cloth Cleanser in their buy one get one free offer.
Which was very naughty as I had a load of LE travel sizes in the stash. and a pump on the go. And the Orange & Clove SE coming for Crimbo.
And I made the mistake of surfing the John Lewis site and seeing the O&C and the C&P is on special offer. I now have both in my basket.
Someone stop me.0 -

I have been a bit naughty this month and looks like I have to rejoin this from Decemberally.0

Congratulations on the wedding evilsquid- I hope that you and our husband had a wonderful day. May you have a wonderful life together and all your years ahead be filled with laugher and joy.
Gemzie- good luck with the job interview! Being shortlisted gives you more confidence after the difficulties they put you through. Put your favourite lipstick on and best interview outfit and they will see your confidence! Sometimes things work out to give you different opportunities – I worked with a nasty toxic person and if it were not for her I would have never looked for different position as I adored the customers and other staff. I know adversity makes you stronger, allowing you take on new roles, have more compassion and be determined.
Sophie- ask for a sample of the cream lrp are excellent at providing samples. It might stretch the budget. It might be good to get to know the lrp consultant in an independent pharmacy as they love to recommend the cleansers, serums in the range and have loads of samples. It may save you some mistaken purchases. Have you tried to cleanse tone and moisturize only with the effaclar range (the gift set is way cheaper than buying separately) and see if you can get a sample of the effaclar k as it is meant to be really good. Fish oils are a good anti-inflammatory for the skin and can help from internally. Try and keep it simple- when my face flares up I have to bring it back to the stuff I know works. Vichy and lrp are the same company basically- lrp is more stripped back, Vichy noraderm might work for you. Ask for a small sample before buying as vichy give the away so many.
I tried the oil method for cleaning my face and it is effective but I never really loved it as the bathroom is like the north face of Antarctica. I am thankful I got a small travel sized 15ml caudalie oil. At least I did not waste a lot! I used it on holiday as my only cleanser and missed the feel of cleanser creams and micellar water.
Shandy- lucky you heading to chester, it is a lovely city with brilliant shops. You can get some amazing stuff in poundland. A few little in’s are needed sometimes when there is a lot going on.
Asajj- welcome back. Don’t worry we all have slips.
So basically nothing new in but I have not been wearing makeup much so I’m not really using it up. I’m trying to avoid shopping for cosmetics like the plague as I want to get a nice sofa in the January sales. I need some really good moisturizing mask as the clarins is ok but not worth a repurchase. I was in the body shop as the only sleep in mask size was a full on- I’m not spending a fortune on a item with out testing it. I’m not going to spurge until I’m sitting on a new sofa. I hope I can survive the holiday season with no new in’s.0 -

Snap, although I'm slightly older at 27. I'm terribly at any kind of routine, and I have so many half used products - I'm just going to work through what I have then try and find something better and more effective!
3 more UUs for me - taking me to 11 for the month so far, so my target of 10 has been achieved! :T
1 x Biore charcoal nose strip - HG, I've tried cheaper ones of these, but nothing compares!
1 x Boots No 7 Protect and Perfect Advanced Serum - WMBA, I liked how this went onto my skin, but I never really used it in a routine so I don't know if it really made any difference!
1 x Dentyl Active mouthwash - WDBA, this was actually the last mouthwash in my stash so need to buy some more!!0 -
UU
Lidl Cien Anti-Wrinkle Q10 Night Cream 50ml - I had this since July/August so it's lasted a fair amount of time since when I first opened it. I'd say this was pretty effective and my face felt soft in the morning after using it. Good value for money. WMBA. I'm now using Super Facialist Night Cream and have swapped current daytime moisturiser for the Super Facialist one so I'm using both together.
Beyonce Heat Kissed Sensual Body Lotion 75ml - I applied this on work days and I loved the smell of it. It was gorgeous. I'm really liking scented moisturisers and will hunt out some more when I get through the stash. WDBA though I don't tend to buy them separately, I just use ones I get in gift sets.
Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant Whitening Toothpaste 25ml - I'm logging this as a use up because I have a couple of toothpaste tubes in my stash still to finish. This made my teeth whiter but I read an article which said this contains micro plastics which puts me off.
