Osborne has admitted that he underestimated the depth of feeling in the North that they were losing out, and attributes at least some of the Brexit vote to this sentiment.

I think he is right, but I am also surprised that as Chancellor he did not have a finger on the pulse on all parts of the UK, not just London.

Perhaps the Brexit vote has just exposed feelings which were already there.

Few scumbags? 2300 offences in 38 days? In London alone?
But yes...some of the victims would just be spat on, some of them would merely have eggs thrown at them, all fine then. False alarm.
Someone should tell Hogan-Howe to stop being so bloody hysterical, calling it a 'horrible spike'.

Until recently I had a relative who lived in his constituency - Knutsford.

Believe me. Knutsford is far far removed from some of the towns in South Yorkshire; Lancashire; or the North East.

Maybe he thought all of "the North" was like Knutsford
