  • I always love these statments! People spend their free time doing all sorts of things to relax and enjoy. Some go to the football, some the pub. Others go on holiday, or perhaps out for dinner. Some, believe it or not, like movies, sports or TV programmes. Maybe, just maybe paying £1200 a year on TV might be less than you spend on you free time. Perhaps the OP is a better moneysaver than you, or perhaps they have more money than you.

Lets not judge or make comments about peoples choices that you know nothing about.
Or perhaps the op (like many people) doesn't realise how much they are spending in a year on TV? It's like people who spend £40 a month on a phone contract oblivious to the fact it will cost them £960 over their 2 year contract. So it doesn't do any harm every now and again to state the obvious that people who are frequenting a money saving site are like minded.
But then again I am a tight !!!! constantly saying HOW MUCH?!

It certainly can get cheaper, and much cheaper at that. As teddysmum says it's simple to haggle to get big discounts. I have the package you have but without multiroom and it only costs me about £30ish a month.

As to whether the Sky Q will be more or less than £95, you'd need to speak to Sky. They may have offers on, they may not. If you've always gone along paying full price you may find they are limited though.

    You did well!

I've got everything except films, sports & muliroom & its £25.

So I have sky +, all the family & other bits channels & HD.

Just signed up to Netflix - saves paying sky for films.

The point is that the poster concerned could get the same service for far far less by following the examples of others on this board.

This is a money-saving site, so it's hardly "judgemental" to express surprise when someone states they are paying full price for everything...

  • You must have money to burn.... Nearly £1200 a year for TV!

This sounds very demeaning and unnecessary to me!

I agree totally about the money saving aspect tho. I Feel that tips and suggestions can be given to save cash.

I also believe that there are many out there that may feel that the service is worth what they pay. I don't 'nickle and dime' for everything, but TV, phone and broadband is certainly one are I do!

Also, as the box remains Sky's property, you cannot use it to view free satellite content once you unsubscribe.
Agree you can't use it to watch new content, because Sky disables this. But they confirmed to me when I cancelled that the box is mine to do with as I please. You could sell it on eBay, though it isn't worth much.

They told me I would lose all recordings already on the box. But I can still watch mine. (I think they are all free-to-view channels, however. Perhaps you just lose Sky content.)

You are talking about the (old) Sky+ HD boxes though.

Teddysmum was referring to the new Sky Q boxes which remain the property of Sky at all times, the same way Virgin only lend you their TiVo boxes.
