Laura, you had your drink spiked girl.
You poor thing. Why do people do that? :mad:I hope you were looked after.
One of the nicest readings I have heard at a wedding was 'Oh the places you'll go" by Dr Seuss :ADebt Jan 2017 = £42kMay 2022 = £15k0 -
Yep - everything is going in the right direction - bonus is looking good for February and so is the OH's so it could be a big debt-busting month for us!!
yes BOP - looks like I was spiked. No good at all.
I haven't been very MSE this weekend - I did an extra food shop and I spent too much money that I hadn't budgeted for. But onwards and upwards - I should still be ok this month if I am very good for the next couple of weeks.
We are having roast chicken tonight - yummy!!!

Guys, this week has gotten the better of me!
I haven't been spendy, but work has been a nightmare (understaffing and office politics). My parents are both very unwell with a nasty virus, and they have been looking after my sister's children (when they probably haven't needed to since she is just being very irresponsible). I haven't sent out all my wedding invites yet which is starting to stress me out and we have had to give notice to leave my flat 2 months before the tenancy ends (28th March) but we haven't exchanged yet.
All of this is starting to make me feel very tired and worn down! I am just focusing on powering through today. Then it's the weekend and I can take 5 and breathe!!
Wish me luck people!!!

Oh Laura, I hope you're parents are feeling better soon. How awful that they have still had to look after the children whilst feeling so bad.
Enjoy your weekend xxMummytogirls x0 -

Hi everyone, thanks BOP and M2G - definitely needed the virtual love!
This week has gotten better - I sorted out the work stuff, finally. So all should be good on that front!
Moneysaving is going well in some ways; the OH has claimed back £202 for contact lenses from our work PMI - woo hoo!! And he gets his bonus next month that should be in the region of £1k, so he can pay off his credit card - that really will make a big difference to us. I think that now he has really committed to getting debt free that it will happen. Once he has paid off his credit card, then he only has a loan and he owes some money to a friend. I am pretty confident that he will get those both paid off by August.
I am going ok with my money saving this month, apart from the fact that I bought a new mattress. So here is the thing, they have a big sale on in Dreams and I want a good mattress (I spend more time in bed that most other places so it might as well be comfy). We want a bigger bed for the new house and I was going to wait, but I threw caution to the wind and bought one and put it on my credit card.
I don't regret it and I still feel in control, because next month I can pay off my loan and my barclaycard, which means I will only have my halifax card to pay off. Once the house goes through we will have a little more money spare to pay for things and so I am still in a position to be debt-free by August at the latest also.
Did my food shop this week, we are having;
- Pulled pork
- Fajitas (with leftover pork)
- Chicken risotto
- Fish pie
- Bolognaise
- Chicken pie/casserole
The food shopping was also quite expensive this week, but we were running low on lots of things so I wanted to top up to make sure that this saw me through to next week!
I was also naughty and had a takeaway last week!
So, it's 10 days until payday and I shouldn't need to spend any more really this month.
I have made some less MSE decisions and I am feeling a little guilty about it all. However, I have a good bonus coming my way in my next pay and I was able to sell something for around £400 so we should be ok!!
I hope everyone else is having a lovely week - it's Sunday today and I hope to spend much of it in a chilled out mood! Time to get that lovely bit of pork in the slow cooker!

Hey Bob - they are feeling better now thank you
We had spag bol today and I had a pretty tough day at work, my boss was being his usual wonderful self - I genuinely think he has some kind of mental health problem. I tell him something will go wrong unless we do something, he does nothing, then tells me it's my fault when it goes wrong!!!
Getting really excited about the house - three weeks before we are homeowners - the to-do list is piling up. It's actually a little frustrating that there isn't more that I can do before we buy!! I want to start getting our address updated on everything, and open our new account and start getting the new house ready!
The wedding planning is going ok, I need to get all of the invites sent out soon - it's a nightmare!!
Hope everyone's week is going well

You are probably in the throes of house moving madness but just wondered how things are for you out there Laura?
Bop xDebt Jan 2017 = £42kMay 2022 = £15k0 -
BOP - the madness my end has begun!! The house move is soon upon us, we should be completing in the next two weeks - so excited!
Started my new job today - which has been a bit of a whirlwind, I only had the interview on Friday. It's at the same company, but managing a different team - which is good, because where I am going I will still get paid a bonus (quarterly) and I think that I can really improve the team's performance.
I bought a new mattress this month, and I put it on my halifax CC, so that will be going up when I update my sig, but the great news is my bonus in Feb is £945 so I will be able to pay off my loan and my barclaycard! Insane! I will only have one debt left to pay off - I will be within touching distance of freedom!!
So lots of good news, but had some bad news for my family and it's really upset my parents. That has stressed me out a bit because I can't fix it for them, or really do anything to help. So just focussing on cheering my mum up this weekend - I think that all my happiness is helping her though!
All this stress has set off my TMJ - luckily I have PMI so going through the motions of getting that sorted at the moment. Which is great, because it cost me £500 to get private botox in my jaw when it was last bad around 4 years ago. So hoping that I can get the treatment that I need for just my £150 excess
Got so many plans for the new house, wedding invites are going out, and we are going to start trying for a baby soon! So feeling very happy about all of that, and a little bit sad about the family stuff.
If anyone out there wears glasses - has anyone used glasses direct? I am going to get some new specs (I can claim the cost back through work up to £125) and they seem to be such good value compared to the opticians!
Had some lovely dinners recently - tacos last night and toad in the hole tonight
What is everyone else having?? Are you all doing well??
