Have you ever forgotten to add the middle name(s) of a passenger on a flight ticket, and still been accepted boarding? Have you been denied?

Airline is Qatar. The travel agent said it was only USA where it's absolutely mandatory. I was told I should be alright - only need one first name and last name.

I don't think I've ever put my middle name on and I've never had a problem.
(Must remember if I ever go to the States.)

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Thanks, I'm sure I've excluded the middle name in the past, and it's been fine. No problem, the process to the USA - make no mistake!

Never, in the last 30 odd years of travelling the world have I booked a ticket and included my middle name.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

I only use middle names if specifically asked, most airlines only ask for first and family name, I have flights booked to the US with United who did want middle names, equally I flown there with other airlines who haven't. And I have flights booked to Dubai with Emirates who didn't ask.

Did Qatar ask for middle names when you booked?

Airline ticketing systems don't tend to 'do' middle names, and you don't need one for the US either. Just first and last name must match your passport. If the airline want it they'll ask for it, but even then it may not appear on your boarding pass.

American Airlines don't want your middle name.

It amuses me that, if you book online eith them, there's a suffix box. So you can say if you're Joseph Bloggs III. :D

I travel internationally on a regular basis and also used to work in the travel industry probably booking 500 or so people a week and have never come across an airline where middle names on air tickets are mandatory.

Who is telling you otherwise ?

Many names of Middle Eastern origin are longer than the number of characters airlines allow in the name field anyway so often it's not even possible.

The other half  I've said it's ok, and she's ok. The agent, Travel Trolley, was saying if I wanted to change, it would cost £25 per passenger. Such a rip.

To be fair, the agent's web form said as mentioned on the passport. But looking at Qatar's terms & conditions - I did not read anything specific or alluding to middle names or all first names. So I think I'll be fine - given the responses here too.
