funeral dress

I have a funeral to go to soon, and I already have a dress exactly like this.

Is this too "fancy" or would it be suitable.
Its the only thing I have at the moment which is anything near suitable.

I think the dress is just lovely and absolutely right for lots of different things, including a funeral. :)

Looks fine to me - Not that I'd wear it (don't have the legs for short dresses).

One recent funeral that I (should have) gone to stipulated bright colours - I don't think black has to be worn. It is more about showing respect to the deceased and the family in my opinion.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

I would 'dress it down' with a plain jacket/shoes and it will be fine.

One thing I would consider is the next time you want to wear it might be more happy occasion, (its a great dress suitable for most occasions) and would you feel comfortable knowing what you wore it for previously.

Last funeral I went to, my Nans I got my whole outfit from charity shops, my Nan would have been proud of me, she never brought anything new.

It's short so I would wear it with thick black tights.
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

It's going to need something on top or thermals getting a bit cool out there this time of year.

It depends whose funeral it's for - as a rule people don't mind what you wear, the fact you attended is what's appreciated.

    It's a black dress: win
It's a bit short: touch and go as to who is there and how they might see that.

I think a bit of "well covered up" is part of the "respect" part of any perceived dress code. Thick black tights would make it not so noticeable that it's a foo foo flasher :)

I was going to wear black tights and flat shoes (and a jacket), but I am worried now about people commenting about it being a bit short.
I thought it more too "fancy" because it is lacy.

Well it is the husband of a very old and very very good friend, and a lot of people who will be there will be quite "grand". A few titled people including (I believe) a minor royal. There will not be many oldish people, as he was very young and it was sudden.
Whilst I am not bothered what the "grand" people think of me, I am bothered that she may think I am an embarrassment to her! I have to go to the wake also as I have quite a bit to do there.
I have been around every day seeing to her business and various other things as her parents are useless, and TBH the ones who I have seen do not seem unduly judgemental. But you never can tell.
I just don't want her to think I will be a show up!

Wear it as a tunic dress over black trousers or leggings?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I had never thought of wearing trousers with it. Brilliant idea!

It's absolutely beautiful enough to wear as a gesture of love & respect at any occasion, and with trous, you'll be warm & 100% modest as well as beautiful in black.
Go, celebrate the life, share memories & make new ones.
