I'd not really run at all before that. Well, I'd done short bursts, got horribly puffed, and gave up. Obviously I now know that was far more to do with the anaemia than anything to do with my general fitness but there you go! What I HAD done though was quite a bit of walking - and at a pretty fast pace, and I think that almost certainly helped as well as being a fab way of generally improving fitness. swimming is amazing and it's still my go-to if I'm having an achey time with my joints.redofromstart wrote: »Cumbria, the couch to 5k programme things are excellent, From never having so much run for a bus and a size 16 at the time, I did sofa bum to 5k in ten weeks - had to repeat a few weeks to get there but amazing how fast your body adapts. If you are at all concerned try doing it on the treadmill, its a lot easier on your joints. I am tempted to try again on the treadmill but what I enjoyed most was garden watching as I went round.
Absolutely agree - and I think the benefits of doing it outside (as long as you're not running along a dual carriageway) are massive as well - fresh air, visual stimulation etc. Regarding the joints, I was told the following:
Grass = Best
Tarmac = Not ideal, but OK
Concrete = not for beginner running if there are joint issues.
I believe the thinking is that concrete has absolutely NO give, of flex in it, whereas the other surfaces do at least offer some.MistyMountainTop wrote: »I ran for about 20 secs and felt like such a lumbering ox. Oh good grief do NOT run without a proper sports bra - it'll be painful as anything and put you off forever! Have a look online - Brastop are good - and see if you can track down a decently priced one. Shock Absorber Ultimate Run bras are amazing - you may need to go up a back size on your usual in my experience but the band should feel snugger than your usual daily wear bras would. I wear a 34F in normal bras and my Shock Absorbers are a 36E.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

With you on YOu Gov.
If I ever get to payout I will not be doing it again.
Right there with you...although the current question is WILL I ever get to payout! :rotfl:hey Essex sounds like a good year planned ,maybe I should include stinky beach in benbecula as my S.good luck with the plans might join u on trying to get the 0% cleared quicker might spur me on .Good luck x
Ooh Elly Stinky Bay was where we stayed last time we were up there! :T
Apologies for absence again folks - it's that real life thing getting in the way again! I HAVE however now got some proper MSE related stuff to report, so all good!
The plan to focus a little more on the small stuff on the financials is already showing a reward as we have a surplus in the joint account even after the CC bill money-shuffle was done. VERY chuffed with that - and I think we're going to use half of it for fun and frolics this weekend and the other half I'll shuffle to savings. :T
Also cashed out £12 odd on Prolific this morning - by the time it hits Paypal it'll probably be £11-something but at least I'm paying SOMETHING off the card this month additional to the standard anyway! :T I'm currently refusing to even think about doing the study that's been sitting there for at least 48 hours but only pays at a rate of £3 something an hour. No, my time is worth more than that!
OnePoll is now sitting at £8.55
Power of Opinions 646 points
Not even TALKING about YouGov or Populus! :rotfl:
I had a meal out with a lovely friend last night - used a voucher for a free starter, and another voucher which got us our mains for £10 between us - and then she expensed hers anyway as she's away with work so picked up the tab for the lot which was amazing of her! :T
The weekend WILL be spendy, I know that, but it's planned and we've saved for it so will both transfer money from our "fun" accounts as needed. I've got the money I didn't spend on dinner last night too of course! Planning to avoid putting much on the Credit Card anyway.
Part of our monthly budget currently includes £20 for a takeaway. This month I've got MrEH to withdraw that in cash and we've put it to one side. I'm planning to do the same thing next month as well. This will then supplement months ahead when we have more than 1, or can be shifted to savings/used for a meal out or whatever. Seems to be a good plan just to keep more of a track of it. Again, part of that refocusing thing I'm trying to do.
Food spends are OK - and there still seems to be headway being made on the freezer. :T🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I find yougov all or nothing. I've had 2 payouts in the last 6 months but it took about 2 years to reach the first one
I haven't done a survey anywhere since before ChristmasI need too really.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend x“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”0 -
Thanks WF - it really was a good one!
Well my Prolific money has landed in my Paypal and been transferred to the bank, and then on to the 0% card, and I've updated my signature as well. Clearly need to find another £1.34 from somewhere to throw at it to even up the amount now paid! :rotfl:
Weekend was ace but spendy - BUT we used cash and avoided using the card for the most part (our train tickets into & out of London were bought on the card but that was about it) and I came back with 4 x £2 coins to feed into the pig so I was pleased with that. I've shuffled some money from my fun account to cover some of what I spent and the balance in my current account will get whizzed across to my airshow savings once I get paid which will probably be tomorrow. I'll throw the remaining balance in the joint account into savings at that stage too.
Planned spends for this week are on shopping tonight (obviously didn't have time to do it over the weekend), MrEH's car had its MoT test on Friday or Saturday so we're waiting to pay for that, and I'm going to the gym probably on Wednesday but that's about it as far as I can think. :T Payday for MrEH is Wednesday, mine probably tomorrow as I said, and we've got nothing more to come out of the bank between now and then so all good on that front.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Glad you had a fun weekend EH! Now that I live in London I feel like I ought to make more of a use of this city's amazing free activities, but every single weekend I just wanna snuggle up, do some housework and not go outside into the cold!
Upon reading your diary I've decided I will NOT be doing yougov...sounds like it's not worth it! Having said that I've been doing 0nepoll for a year now and am only at £25...Debt Totals July 2019::

I think the thing I love about your posts the most is how you are really enjoying life! The little trips away, shows, festivals, cooking, exercise - you're doing it all very well on a budget and saving up for the bigger things well in advance. It's like a breath of fresh air.
I think I've been skint for so long that I just cut out all "having fun" or things that interested me unless they were free events. I can see now how doing that makes life seem much more of a long hard slog. There are a couple of local craft classes that I've been very interested in joining but never had the money. I'm now going to put a regular small amount away so I can join one in the summer.0 -
I too noticed your site feedback post has gone. However so has the Spam button! I don't have it anymore, do you?

We found even when we were paying off the mortgage that it was pretty much essential to have some slack in there. It's the reason why I never got on over on the MFW board - I got fed up with the "virtual raised eyebrows" every time I talked about doing something fun rather than putting the money it would have cost onto the mortgage OPs...WannabeFree wrote: »I too noticed your site feedback post has gone. I'm assuming this is for people posting on tablets or phones as it's still in place on my PC - however the position of it on the PC has never been an issue. I tell you if they've actually taken steps to sort this issue I will be highly delighted - a DFW thread-party may be called for!:T :rotfl:
Fingers crossed it seems that MrEH's car has passed the MOT Test with no work required...which would be rather impressive bearing in mind her elderly status. If she has then she'll get treated to her service in a few months I think! :T He's ringing them back at lunch to confirm details and pay the bill anyway so we'll know then and will find out tonight if there are any advisories.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
