  • I think the thing I love about your posts the most is how you are really enjoying life! The little trips away, shows, festivals, cooking, exercise - you're doing it all very well on a budget and saving up for the bigger things well in advance. It's like a breath of fresh air.

I think I've been skint for so long that I just cut out all "having fun" or things that interested me unless they were free events. I can see now how doing that makes life seem much more of a long hard slog. There are a couple of local craft classes that I've been very interested in joining but never had the money. I'm now going to put a regular small amount away so I can join one in the summer.

We've been only doing free events for years too and life can be a bit grim after a while.

So we splurged on joining the National Trust this year so we can go to some different/more interesting places.

that sounds like a very good idea! :)

HH We did National Trust for a few years but there's not a huge amount near us to visit. We've had RSPB membership for years though so we get entrance/parking at all their reserves which has been very worthwhile. I definitely think that there is a huge benefit in having something along those lines that by the time you think of it on an "across the year" basis costs relatively little, but does give you somewhere to just chill out and see something different.

MrEH's car did indeed pass her MoT Test with no issues - they did have to do a numberplate light bulb and adjust the headlight aim but they didn;t charge us for those, and they gave us a discounted priced test as well so the bill was just under £40! :rotfl: Oh the benefit of having a decent garage who know you use them for everything! :T Two advisories - one on a tyre nearing limit which will need to get done but probably not until March, and the other for some play in the steering rack - we'll have to think about that one. She'll need a service at some stage so we might ask them to quote at that stage for the steering thing and see where it comes in at. If it needs a new steering rack which I suspect it will then it's not economical and will be on its way as a part-ex as soon as we can find something suitable to buy in replacement.

Surpluses in my account and the joint account have been shuffled to savings ready for pay to arrive today/tomorrow. :T

First thank you for getting involved in the lost diaries, don’t hold out any hope of getting mine back.

  • Ahhh Cumbria I'm so sad on behalf of you guys who've lost your diaries - and if I'm honest quite angry too - when WF's first diary went due to the same sort of attack I raised the question of it being malicious at the time and was subsequently told no, it wasn't, it was just accidental. If only it had been taken seriously when it was first mentioned! :o I'll certainly be crossing my fingers that yours can be recovered along with all the others that have gone.

Tomorrow is the final day of my first personal challenge of the year - Exercising every day - and I'm chuffed to bits to have managed something every single day. :D I feel I'm firmly into the habit of running as well which was most definitely an aim! :T

Well done on the the running too, it makes quite a difference to your mood doesn't it? I've managed a walk two days in a row so I'm very pleased with myself :D..
