I saw an interesting book about WWII in the charity shop and thought of you! And then I thought of the library, and how much better it would be to read it from there...
I've been looking out for prefabs now, to take a closer look. I've not seen any yet. I'd love to go back in time and see what they looked like on the inside when they were first built, and how they were decorated. I'd never want to live through WWII but my style is definitely 1930's-40's.0 -

Shopping done:
Lidl - £2.76, Leeks and rocket and Fishcakes from the POTY offers.
Tesco - made a conscious decision to use a £3 off £30 voucher I had. Stocked up on lots of odds and ends, - tinned stuff, passata, frozen fish. Bought a whole FR chicken too which is currently in the oven as it's on anyway for the squash. Obviously as well as all the usual stuff for the week Spent £29.53 but also got rid of a double points and a 100 points voucher, so all happy with that.
Collected the car key from the garage - and asked about getting the service light re-set. Now there's been something niggling at me all week. I've had my clio from brand new - 30 miles on the clock, and she's now on 124k, so it's fair to say I know my car. This time round she just didn't feel quite as she usually does after a service. when the mechanic came out to reset the light, he just said, in passing "Yeah of course with the service not getting done I didn't reset it..." Seem s Lisa in the office thought that the service had been done because they had the car for the extra time in the end, whereas the mechanic understood that it had been booked back in to be done tomorrow so he just did the MoT stuff... :rotfl: I actually felt sorry for Lisa - she was SO embarrassed! Anyway, the only down side is that I now have to get the car back there for 8am tomorrow which isn't ideal, but there you go! It could only happen to me!
Misty there is a map of where all the prefabs can be found - have a look at the Prefab Museum site to see if there are any near you still. Green pins mean they're still there.
Pauline thank you SO much for that brilliant tip about the library - I've already downloaded a couple of photo mags and had a lovely indulgent hour in bed this morning reading one of them!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Tip of the week on this diary for sure! If I could give out stars Pauline would have five of them!
Forgot to declare - filled the car up earlier. £55. Diesel is creeping up in price again, slowly but surely. That ought to cover me for the month though as far as I can think, unless we take my car to Birmingham. Next month will be heavier on fuel for me as it'll be mine that goes up to Glasgow when we go away, and I might also be heading to Lincoln for the RAFAT Photo Section Christmas night out - not sure about that one yet though - depends when they organise it for.

CH on here, it seems like the minute it turns off, the house temp plummets to freezing.I'm keeping doors shut and using blankets but it's still so cold! We had storage heaters in the last few houses we lived in, I must admit I much prefer having CH. Our heaters were very old and always smelled like something was burning when they were on. My next house/flat/shed will have a solid fuel stove, it's one of my top priorities!
I ate some chocolate today. I blame you.

If only! Unfortunately we are renting and the landlord would not take kindly to me bashing his bricked up chimneys about! I will have one in the next place I own. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.
I am going to put the prefab map on my phone and seek them out when I can, thanks for posting the link. I'd love to see the indoors, but people would think I was crazy if I started knocking on doors, asking to be let in...
I didn't know about the magazines at the library. I am going to have a good nosy, and at the books too. It seems like a great resource.
Petrol is creeping up too, I filled up the car the other day and nearly choked at the cost. I will be seriously thinking about every trip I make in the car now, and seeing if it is really necessary. I live within about 1 1/2 miles of three supermarkets, it might well be an idea to invest in a shopping trolley so I can walk to them all.0 -
