I have finally made the decision to cancel a magazine subscription that I have been wavering about. It's only been costing me £12 a year - and is a good deal for the magazine concerned, but I've found that more and more I simply don't get around to reading the copies when they arrive. I read them on train journeys, mostly, but I don't make those often enough to justify the subscription - and to be honest these days I'd rather make the conscious decision to treat myself to a photography mag occasionally. The email to cancel has been sent.
Tomorrow (Also including tonight):
- cancel DD for mag subscription at the bank
- Fridge/freezer/larder check
- meal plan
- shopping list
- shopping
- 15 minutes - front room
- 15 minutes shredding/filing
- make butternut squash & red lentil soup?
- Collect car key from garage and get them to re-set the service light
- Sort out bottom of storecupboard
- Find library card (dressing table?)
- Research magazine options from library
- email Pinecone to see why I'm not getting surveys
- Onepoll
As I have to go to the garage anyway a trip to Lidl might be logical. I see that leeks are on PoTW, and so is rocket. I'm also eyeing up their fishcakes (79p for 2) and British Beef meatballs (£1.25 for 12) as possibilities - frankly I couldn't make either myself for that cost! If I get the fishcakes that might make tomorrow night's dinner fishcakes with roast butternut squash wedges and peas. If I'm going to Lidl anyway I will probably grab a bag of bread flour to top us up.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Just a thought.....
My local library has over a hundred magazines you can access at home. There are all sorts available and I have started to read about different subjects in bite size pieces.
Wondered if yours does too?

Pauline that's brilliant! :T I've just looked, and it looks as though ours do too, so I'll add that to my list as something to research tomorrow, I think! (Now, just need to find my library card!) :rotfl:🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

@117pauline thanks from me too, I've just realized that I have access to a lot of audio books and music - for free - via my local library.0

Ahh I knew about the audiobooks and music from years ago. I'd half forgotten about the library though to be honest - our local one doesn't open on Fridays, and friday is the most suitable day for me to go.I also have a nasty habit of forgetting to return stuff on time, so twigged some years ago that for me, the cheapest way of reading stuff is to go to our local Hospice shop (50p a paperback) and buy from there a handful at a time. Mum does the same and we swap them between ourselves, too. I usually get a box of books for her at Christmas too - fine old family tradition now!
OK - back to food....where else does this thread end up? :rotfl:
Anyone else read the "Are you getting enough" thread over on Old Style? It's referring to 5 a day before anyone goes down with a fit of the vapours! An interesting read - although I think some people must be rather underestimating what counts as a "portion" - either that or they must be somewhat "fragrant" to be about if they really ARE eating 12 - 15 portions of fruit and veg a day! _pale_ Anyway - it got me thinking.
Today: satsuma, apple and a fruity graze thing with my lunch. Seem to recall satsumas only count as half, and my apple was dinky, so probably only a half there too. Tonight's dinner will have beans, butternut squash & mushrooms with it. Even assuming I hit a portion each of those though, I'll still only JUST hit my 5. Yesterday I suspect was a different story - lunch was similar, but pretty sure I had an extra apple as a snack. The lasagne last night though had tinned tomatoes, onion, and red pepper in it, and the salsa I served it with had fresh tomatoes and red pepper, and a big handful of parsley - and that probably amounted to 2 portions on its own. It's an interesting one, and something I am going to try and keep an eye on, I think.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I don't think I made it very clear but I read the magazines on my tablet at home. You can download them and there are usually six or so back issues.
I also have e-books from them too. No problems about forgetting to return them as they just disappear. I can get five and again I have got some varied reading to keep me amused.Don't get it perfect - Get it goingBetter Than Before0 -
No - you made it clear Pauline - I got exactly what you meant!
Having done a bit more looking I'm now itching to get home, get my library card found, register and get the app installed on my iPad!

2 OnePoll surveys done - only 25p but then they also took about three minutes tops so that'll do! Also - the second one was the first one I've had asking me about living accommodation since "the Day" - "Own Home - mortgage paid off" ticked!
Must add "email Pinecone to find out why I'm not getting surveys" to my list.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Oh wow L how exciting!! we've managed to explore quite a bit of Skye in bite-sized chunks on our trips up - usually in the handful of hours between rolling off one ferry and needing to be on the other! Got a pal who lives just up the road from the ferry at Uig, too!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
