Hello Essex Hebridean
Love your + and - post. I should really get back to doing similar. All the little things that might seem minor at the time, it all adds up, what a great motivator!

My dog often gets into the bath after me especially if I’ve used my Molton Brown bubble bath, she really likes the smell of it 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

Our cat used to get into the bath in the mornings after we'd showered, and sit under the still dripping shower-head giving herself a wash - literally as though she had decided that if her humans were standing under this wet thing and washing, then she ought to as well. With baths though the closest she got was a precarious balance on the very edge whilst dipping a paw in and drinking the water by licking it from said paw.
SA - it must be said, your dog has very good taste in products - MB stuff is lovely!
Paws I ought to try and keep up the + & - lists each month - it's interesting to actually think back across a month in those terms, and does (for me) help promote a bit of decent self appreciation and honesty in equal measures.
Cheery I loved how long they'd held those bonds too - in my mind I'd love to think they've had them all that time with nothing, and then - KABOOM - a decent lump of dosh just before Christmas!
SH - You're very welcome! x
The December goals thing is an interesting one. After I'd typed those in yesterday I found myself thinking back to them through the day and convincing myself that I really *should* do a proper list with more on it goal-wise. Then, this morning I got on the bike to cycle from the car, and in spite of the fact that it was on the flattest route, and not particularly fast, and I had several stops at lights etc, I realised part way here that it just felt like hard work - I'm just tired now, and not really in a way that a couple of solid nights sleep is sorting out. Doing this wretched commute on my own two days a week feels like a tough gig and that's not helping - I loathe the fact that it takes such a stupid amount of time to travel a relatively short distance, and it's only the fact that I do love my job that makes it worthwhile. Throw in a bit of Covid stress creeping in again (although it sounds like the whole new variant thing was rather blown out of proportion by skewed figures because of where it emerged, with luck), some events we were looking forward to for next year already cancelled, and everything is just feeling like hard work at the moment. I also realised that I've been telling lots of other folk that it's not surprising if they're struggling a bit after everything that's been going on, and not applying that same reasoning to myself. (And I feel a bit guilty even feeling like that after having been furloughed for so long too, but of course that's part of it - it's been a hell of an adjustment to return to "normal" routines etc!)
SO - the plan is - December goals as written, and just keep plugging away. I've got three day weeks the next two weeks, then it's Christmas week itself which is always pretty jolly AND has lighter traffic too which will be a huge help. Main aims aside from that will be to keep trying to do odd jobs here and there around the house to continue to make the place nicer, and brighter, and more sparkly. Might put up some lights, might not - we'll see. whatever we put up will have to be taken down on Christmas morning as I'm not leaving them until we're back well after 12th night!

EH - I can't express to you how lovely it was to read your above paragraph regarding C-stress. I'm totally with you on just how hard it is at the moment to get through the everyday routines, let alone taking on anymore! Thanks for 'vocalizing' - it's comforting to know there are others having a similar experience.
Personally I'm struggling to be my usual chilled/calm/accepting self, with small things causing unproportionate upset/disruption! I realize how lucky I am to have worked from home through the whole pandemic, but returning to the daily grind & commute has been exceptionally difficult!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! We have all had such a lot of adjustment this last couple of years- it’s not surprising it’s getting to us. Be kind to yourself. Take care making too many targets and just enjoy ‘being’ for some of the time 👍January spends - £587.5810
