Cheap, Decent HDMI Cables?

  • Sorry - not read every post - but I recently got an HDMI cable from ebay - from the States - for a couple of quid. It's fine!

I read an article in the PS3 mag saying that you don't need to spend a fortune on gold plated oxygen shielded whatnots because it's not like an analogue signal that's subject to interference - it's just '0' and '1's.

Like printer cables, this is how the likes of Currys make up their profit. They'll make just a few quid margin on a DVD player and then make £15 profit on a cable:mad:

thanks everyone for the help and advice.

i went with the hdmi cable from play.com for £12.99 after reading the great reviews on it.

And for the wii console i went with the joytech componant cable from play.com for £9.99

The componant cable arrived this morning and its great!! Has made a really big difference to the picture quality on the wii console.

Now when the hdmi cable arrives, I am going to put this between my dvd recorder/hdd combi unit. When i do this I take out the scart lead connecting them dont i? And just put the hdmi cable straight to the tv from the recorder?

Sorry to still sound dense, but these cable things are really confusing me!!

Then when i upgrade to v+ I will get rid of all the scarts and just have hdmi leads yeah? As at the moment the normal cable box just runs of scarts.

You'll run HDMI from V+ box to TV, but still need SCART from V+ box to DVD recorder, and be warned VM cripple to picture terribly on the SCART when watching on the TV via HDMI, if recording on to DVD/HDD of external box from the V+ expect the picture to be worse than a recording made on a 50p blank tape from 30 years ago.

You'll get help and info from other other Virgin Media customers in the Virgin Media newsgroups and support from UK staff in the Virgin Media support newsgroups.

All the Virgin Media groups begin with virginmedia when people use newsgroups they often wrongly think all groups listed are something to do with their ISP.

If your ISP isn't VirginMedia and you only have their TV or phone, then you'll not have access to them.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
