Just remember there's a lot of snake oil when it comes to cables like gold plating and oxygen free copper, and stupidly high prices. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

Actually with HDMI the signal is digital so as long as the cable meets the HDMI standard for what you are using it a £10 cable will give IDENTICAL performance to a £200 one.0 -

just to check i am not being dense!! but if i get the hdmi leads i get rid of the scart leads dont i???
i have a hdmi slot on my dvd recorder and i am trying to find it on my wii
i just want to check i have got the theory right!! so that the hdmi leads are the new scart leads so to speak!!
you dont have to do away with the scart lead or disconnect it although you may find it to be redundant if you use hdmi all the time. you dont have to disconnect simply because you can go through your various inputs on your tv with your remote and select one to watch. for example there may be av1, av2, av3, av4, hdmi, component etc. you scroll up or down to the one you want and select it. av1 and av2 are usually the scart sockets.
i presume if you are going to connect a console and a dvd recorder to your tv that you do have two hdmi sockets on the tv otherwise you will need a two way thingy as well.0 -

you may have been reading about a different console. i know the xbox 360 is hd and i think the playstation 3 is as well. go on the nintendo website there should be info there.0 -

yeah i have 3 hdmi ports on my new tv. so thats not a problem. that will leave me one left over for the v+ box if i get it.
I think you can only use a componant cable on the wii, from what i have read today.
oh god why is new technology so confusing0 -
i think there must be more than one type of cable that can be used on your console simply because i am sure the last time i had a console there was more than one type that could be used and bear in mind that the last console i had was the ps1. yes old.
edit.
just to add but of course that wont necessarily mean that hdmi is one of those cables that can be used. if the instruction book doesnt tell you then i suggest contacting nintendo on their website to be sure.0
