Wheres the best palce to get cheap but decent hdmi cables from?
i need 2 for my new set up to connect my digital dvd recorder and my wii console.
i am totally new to all this, but when searching there is a vast difference in price.
Dont want anything top of the range im not that bothered about the purity etc... but want something decent.

Don't know if you use eBay but I purchased and use a couple of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Labgear-HDMI-to-HDMI-1-5m-Gold-PROFESSIONAL-Lead-Cable_W0QQitemZ270167234887QQihZ017QQcategoryZ32837QQcmdZViewItem
Seem to be good quality and not too expensive. Reliable seller as well - no it's not me.:D0 -
have a look on the argos site we got a wharfedale hdmi cable for £19.99 from them. they also have a philips for the same price i think. i have seen cheaper cables from unknown brands, in asda their is one for £12.99 and in woolworths i think there is one for £9.99. you may want to look in some other places before you commit. i think play.com sells them and you can get a good price on there for certain things. i wouldnt bother will the likes of comet or currys and other big electrical stores because i think you will find they are more expensive, 30 or 40 quid plus.0

one more thing has come to mind. you want to connect your games console to your dvd recorder? i presume you want the picture to go from the console to the dvd recorder? if so make sure the dvd recorder has a input slot for hdmi and not just an output slot for hdmi.0

I can't specifically recommend them for quality as I don't have any need for HDMI yet but...
£4.01 from CCL

just to check i am not being dense!! but if i get the hdmi leads i get rid of the scart leads dont i???
i have a hdmi slot on my dvd recorder and i am trying to find it on my wii
i just want to check i have got the theory right!! so that the hdmi leads are the new scart leads so to speak!!0 -
You can definitely do away with the scart lead from the tv to dvd recorder if you get an HDMI cable... not sure about the Wii setup as I don't have one...0

thanks very much, this new techno world is confusing and im only 30
we are looking into getting the v+ box which is hd as well, and that apparently comes with all the cables needed. so i would only need the 2 i think.
one to link tv and dvd recorder and one to link tv and wii console. i think anyway!!!
i think im going to start an idiots guide to buying a new tv they are soooo confusing these days0 -
