Haha to Mr G playing with the letters! Did he leave them on the fridge?

He was a *good boy* and put them back in the box :D:rotfl:

Well, the clementines in mr L get a thumbs up from me :D you may have to rootle a bit, some of the nets in our branch were a bit green (does citrus 'ripen' in our climate?). The only thing that I would say is, having helped myself to 2 of them :o they were both bursting with juice :j but one out of the 2 was very pippy - with each segment having at least one pip, some many more. This didn't bother me, but may be a concern if you are considering them for small children.

Well, we've had a good work out, seen some spiffing wildlife, seen some people who love to see BG's progress, and benefitted from a discount, due to someone's kindness and thoughtfulness :D When we got home, I got given some preloved items for BG by a neighbour, How rich our lives, eh?

Best shift-a-tail-feather, I've pizza dough to make and cards to write.

'how rich our lives' - love that Greying :kisses3:

Think you must have been sitting on my shoulder in the supermarket this afternoon. Through sheer laziness and lack of inclination to look for anything else (and also because I had most of the ingredients), I'm making my guests Jack Monroe's bean goulash that you linked to the other day :j Very nearly bought two packets of tortillas then thought 'Greying would make her own tortillas, I'm sure!' so I put them back :rotfl:

Did end up with pre-grated cheese though  Only because it was reduced and cheaper per kg than the other stuff though!

Best get on with those tortillas I suppose...

Oh lawks! Greying has visions of having ruined Cheery's dinner party..... I've never made tortillas.......

I agree with you whole-heartedly about the cheese. I remember sometime ago I used to buy ready grated for exactly the same reason. At the time, I think it was either the c00p or mrAl that sold grated cheese for less per kilo than block cheese. I don't know if that is still the case, but again, knowing your price by weight, rather than by per pack, gives a distinct advantage :T

Funnily enough the frugality nerve hit this arvo. I was starting to make the pizza dough when I thought, 'Dang, last time i made pizza I knew I was low on bread flour, will I have enough?' And of course Dear Reader as you know, I have already come back from mrL, who's perfectly good bread flour I normally use...... Anyway, as it happened, with the inclusion of a bit of plain flour (low on that too) there was enough for the recipe. So my first thought was, 'I'll have to buy more bread flour'. But when I actually looked in stores, I have a bag of out of date :owhite rye flour. I've never used it before (wholemeal yes, white, no) And I expect I may have to give more time for the rise - which means I need to be more organised the next time I make pizza :o But use it up, as long as it is edible, I shall.

I've prepped the mushrooms, so they are cooked and cooling to top the pizza. I thought that i had some (tomato) pizza topping sauce in the freezer - turns out I haven't, so i'm using up the tomato sauce I made last night. Thank goodness I didn't tip the lentils into the sauce pot - adding the sauce to the lentils instead :D

Glad your pizza was saved! :j :j we always used to make pizza but not done it for ages now :o

I was convinced you made your own tortillas, sorry! :o well, I can highly recommend, dead easy and cheap and pretty tasty :j quite time consuming though, as they have to be rolled out and cooked individually, but I did it ahead of time and stacked on plate under a teatowel for over an hour and they were fine.

Slight disaster though - everyone got all panicky that there weren't enough, or enough goulash stuff  so we ran around making more tortillas and goulash - and then eveyone declared they were full anyway... :rotfl: :rotfl: but at least now tomorrow's lunch is sorted! :j :j
  • We have home made pizza planned for one day or another over the weekend too - and ours will also feature 'shrooms. Well, ours usually do, you'll not be surprised to hear! :D

I came out of Lil's this morning with the peppers and the clementines - although the peppers weren't exceptional value when compared with T's value bags, they were still OK.

  • Good Morning :hello:

Cheery - glad you've lunch sorted for today too :D I am awful for worrying that there will 'be enough' when catering, and subsequently overcater :o

EH - I'm dreadful, I didn't even look at the other items in mrL, just sorted through the clementines and went on my merry way. I should have at least looked at the origin of our mushrooms though - although they would have ben in the chiller cabinet come to think of it, and I ventured nowhere near there.

    The mushroon pizza turned out well. I put loads of garlic in with the mushrooms, because we like it and it is the weekend :p And the pizza tasted really mushroomy. Considering all I used were 'e$$entials' mushrooms from mrAl, there was a real depth of flavour - you knew you were eating mushroom pizza:D I copped out and used the last of the h3ron 'estima' (I think) potatoes for the wedges. I coated them in cornmeal again. Not too sure I'll do this again. Perhaps you should use coarse rather than fine. It just seems to encourage them to brown rather than crisp :( Picture here;

DH is on it like a car bonnet with chores this morning. We're off out for a wiggle around a natty trusty place later. We'll take a sanger with us :D As much as anything because the NT on-site caff is always heaving, people turn up to eat as much as they turn up to visit. You take pot luck finding a seat/table if you turn up to visit and eat......

Right, best go off and start sanger making :D

Ta for popping in, reading and joining in. Much appreciated. By me. Always :D

Oh GP the conversations you inspire in this house! - It does amaze me!

Your lovely pizza had my mouth watering & as OH and I were discussing meal plans, we've decided that a joint effort is indeed the way forward so we can enjoy homemade pizzas again! I'll be prepping the dough (with the help of a breadmaker) & OH will be responsible for toppings & assembly. As you have said many times, it's the teamwork that makes life enjoyable!

We are starting a bit of an adjustment period, as OH is now retired (3 weeks early! - a bit of a shocking surprise) - I have an enthusiastic househusband at the ready:T:T:T but truth be told we will both have a bit of a struggle while I learn to let go of being in charge of the house & he learns how to effectively manage things on his own!;):D:eek:

We do agree that we are going to ease into it - baby steps and all that...

Inspiration has spread up here too - my pizza dough is made and doing a slow rise in the 'fridge. I have mushrooms, roasted red and chili peppers, and eggs to go on them tonight - plus pepperoni for those who like it. There are also 3 anchovies in a jar that will probably find their way onto mine. Looking forward to it already.

And in Spain, not pizza but if you find the time with a little un to make pizza from scratch then I can blooming well find the time to make flatbreads!
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
