I shall report back - but you'll have to join the queue (behind me, then DH ;)) for left over pizza, as we find it all a bit too tempting and scrummy too! :DBG seems to devour it one moment, and leave it the next - most odd  But they do go in waves of not liking things - but also eating them. They ate a piece of apple at lunch, declared they 'no likely this apple' with the other 2 pieces, so I encouraged them to just leave it on the side of the plate.... by the end of lunch there was no apple in sight; in, on or around their plate, the nearest pot plant, nor under the sofa! So who ate it?????? *sigh* :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

*Greying potters orf, rubbing increasingly rufescent welt on her derriere.......* ;):D

It's amazing how kids eat stuff they claim not to like if you don't make a big deal out of it (but they also need to know that you won't immediately replace it with something else). 'oh darling, what would you like instead' leads to all sorts of problems, whereas if they don't have to eat it, but don't have it replaced they will usually eat if if they are hungry. Kids don't generally starve themselves.

ANd if they genuinely don't like it you'll see consistency over time.

Hope the kick worked and that you're not TOO sore as a result :rotfl:
  • Good Morning :hello:

Couldn't sleep, so decided to get up and potter (quietly) about.

rtandon - you'll be disappointed I'm afraid, as BG did indeed munch heartily on their pizza ration last night :D They didn't eat their wedges - which always disappoints, as they are made from 'real' potatoes, but then it is consistent with their dislike of potatoes in any form - with the exception of highly processed chips............................... [Greying hands self 'Bad Mother of the Decade' award........]

greenbee - yeh, I just don't understand why BG says one thing and then does another (well, apart from the fact they are wee and learning all the time), especially when they have literally just about finished their sentence of 'me no likey' and then they pop said offending food item into their mouth, chew, swallow and pick up more....... :rotfl:

Shopping needs to be got today, as stocks are a little low. I've given no consideration to what to eat on Christmas Day. We've not bothered with 'traditional' foods (albeit vegetarian versions) for a good number of years now, and I'm happy to stick with that, but haven't thought about what to have either :o I want something like curry - that can be made beforehand, or is relatively straightforward to prepare. Otherwise I get stuck in the kitchen, and the layout of the Towers is such that it cuts you off from everyone else/the TV - but does put you by the radio :D. I'm happy that in future years, BG will access christmas style meals at school or in restaurants etc, so I don't necessarily feel that I need to start preparing feasts so that they don't 'miss out'. I still prefer to make a 'meal' of Solstice (see what I did there? ;)), but haven't given that any consideration yet either - although I think it falls on a Friday this year? Is pizza suitable for a Solstice feast :rotfl:

Our social calendar seems to have exploded this year - and we're not 'par-tay-ay-ay-ying' type of folk! Whilst most of our activities are actually about socialising with Friends or family, there is still much to shoe-horn in between now and t'big day. At least I don't have to worry about getting a new frock, nor owt like that. But my clothes are starting to look a bit shabby, I think I do need a new wardrobe before long.

I didn't manage to get around to addressing any envelopes yesterday (for cards), but I did manage to get BG to 'autograph' a set of cards, so that is a win in my book! Some envelope addressing can be done today. I must crack on with it actually, as I'm sure posting all the cards is one of our 'advent' activities next week! Plus time is flying - can't believe we're at the 8th already!

Right, I can hear DH shuffling about, so best shift-a-tail-feather and get organised.

    Ta for popping in. Appreciated.

I have memories one year of having scrambled egg on toast at christmas. Now, as a big person, I love the idea of that simplicity!

Simple foods are the best, aren't they? I've just had a toasted cheese sandwich (made under the grill) - brown bread, cheddar cheese, nowt fancy and topped it with siriacha sauce. Absolute heaven, and would have cost £5+ plus in a breakfast joint. Where as I got to enjoy it at home, listening to BG 'boss' their beloved papa about :rotfl:

I always loved a 'proper' Christmas dinner when I was a kid, but my sister hated it. One year she demanded pancakes - "SHE gets to eat her favourite dinner at Christmas, why don't I??" :rotfl: My grandma was a complete pushover and made her some :rotfl:

Ha ha - we never would have been allowed a 'non-proper' Christmas Dinner' in a month of Sundays - although we all ate meat at that point, so it was less of an issue. We weren't wedded to turkey either - not sure it was so popular in the last century......... :D;) But times are changing, and I think people are more accepting of mix & match. I hope BG will get to decide for themselves whether 'roast dinners' are the bees knees. We don't even have a 'roast' (veggie equivalent, or toad in the hole with all the trimmings) every week anymore. There doesn't seem to be the time for the preparation of it.

Does your sister still favour 'interesting' Christmas dinner choices, or is she a roast dinner stalwart, who would frown upon my curry buffet??? :D

I think she makes pancakes every Christmas dinner now for all her family :rotfl: Her kids love it :rotfl:
