Yikes! Are they the sort that wobble but don't fall down...?

Regretably they are the stomping about in, and eating my basmati rice type!:rotfl: And I don't want to think about what else they've been doing in there........... _pale_apple_muncher wrote: »And how is BG's health doing? Keeping away from more snuffles?
Well, they were starting to turn a corner, and then they had the flu vac........................

Oh no!
My dd and I both had the flu when she was just shy of turning 3- good and proper, unable to do anything but sleep for 2 days and then spent 3 days on a sofa each with cbeebies on the box while we dozed. And I decided there and then that we wouldn't have the jab in the future, even tho we are both entitled (being coeliac). Both my parents used to have it, and they were both always significantly under the weather for a while afterwards, which may also have tainted my view of it...
Hope BG picks up soon xNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
I think BG has the acknowledged side-effect of the vac, as in a runny nose (constant running tap
) and they are coughing quite badly. I don't think it is any worse than any of the infections that they have had to date, it is just another one if you see what I mean. More disturbed nights, more BG being less than optimum
I'm sure if BG had flu, I'd be seriously worried, and exhausted and run off my feet, and, and....... It's just that it is so soon on the back of all the other coughs, wheezes and sneezes......
Their appetite is unaffected though, and they still have a glint in their eye and a cheeky smile - so for that I remain grateful.

Good Morning :hello:
Trying very hard to not be down in the dumps. The weather here is lovely, and i had thought about a day out to see something, which we've wanted to do for an age. And this time of year would be perfect - although, notionally the day out would be to see something for BG's benefit. But we've had too many disturbed night's sleep to contemplate going on a trip. Plus my sinuses are "singing", so there is no point in contemplating anything, other than putting one foot in front of the other at the moment
DH took the night shift last night - apparently BG didn't drop off until 3am..... However, BG is so full of beans this morning, you'd have no idea...................:rotfl:
Tea last night was curry, as planned. Lentil dhal, aubergine and chickpea curry (made up recipe) and boiled basmati. I took a punt on the rice, and took out enough for a couple of portions (of the weevil infested stuff), froze it, and then put it in a bowl and poured boiling water all over it. Apparently, the offending weevils would "float" to the surface to be sccoped out......... would they buffalo! They stayed resolutely at the bottom of the rice......... Anyway, I scooped out 8, and couldn't see anymore. I re-rinsed the rice in boiling water, and then drained it, and rinsed it again, before cooking. As it was only DH and I eating this rice, I thought it was worth doing - as I had no other rice in the house. The remaining weevil infested rice has been disposed of. Yes, food waste - of at least 1kg of riceBut I don't want recurring infections
I am reconsidering my purchasing, whilst i appreciate weevils can be in any stored product, I think I may go back to buying rice 1 kg at a time, rather than in 5 or 10kg bags. It might not stop further infections, but wastage would be less........
Tea tonight will be cardboard box fish, oven chips and mushy peas if we all have our appetites in place.
Can't think of anything else to witter on about. So best go orf and try and do summat useful.

Sinuses are soo painful. Do drink gallons of water to help flush them out, help them produce mucus and get rid of the infection.
Well done to braving the rice. Brave woman!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Ice cubes on the sinuses to reduce the swelling & facilitate the "flow". Massage your skull, both the base & where your horns would be. It works for me although obviously may not for you.0

How did your pompom making go?NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Hi Greying
there are weevil eggs in a lot of the dried goods we buy. They're harmless to our health, of course, but a pain when they hatch and start munching. I used to have a problem with flour weevils but I now freeze the bags for a couple of days to kill the eggs and haven't had any trouble since. Maybe another argument for buying smaller bags

Good evening :hello:
I'm feeling better - can actually bend forward without feeling my head is being gripped in a vice now!Went down the hydration/paracetamol route I'm afraid. And DH did alot (but not all) of the childcare this arvo - which did help. BG has continued to be full of beans - we both agreed that we'd like some of their energy in a vain attempt to "keep up!" :rotfl:#feelingabitold
Mmmm, I agree with the freezing Fortune - just never have space in my freezer to do itI didn't bother telling DH that the rice he ate had formerly been the boudoir of a load of amorous insects..... I dunna think either of us are showing any (noticeable) side-effects anyhoo :rotfl:And I did mention that I'd thrown out rice because of weevils, I just may not have connected the dots, and hope neither did he..........
apple - I had a bash at a pom-pom. It was OK, but hasn't undergone rigorous 'useage', so it's 'poms' are currently intact. But I still don't know how you anchor them so that they can't be deconstructed in an idle moment, by inquisitive tot size fingers, and how you 'anchor' them to anything so that they look 'prim 'n perky' like the ones you see in the shops..........
Tea was as per stated, along with a HM apple crumble, with cooking apples gifted off the parentals. That is all gifted apples used up now - an exercise in YUM, but a little sad tooas BG has lapped up every single spoonful they have been given
I love HG apples - I do really think that they are (mostly) so much nicer than anything you can buy in the shops. So flavourful. Crumble was served with natural yog - littlies were offered puree with yoghurt
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
feeling better now than I did at the start of the day
BG - every delicious, single ounce of them!
having a bash at designing summat - which worked :j:rotfl:
Ta for popping in. And for your advice. Appreciated.
