Good Afternoon :hello:
Thank you for your kind wishes for BG. Getting the medicine was the easy bit - anyone who has ever tried getting medicine into littlies will attest that it is easier to herd cats.............. pedigree cats....... that have had servants to move them about.......... on cashmere cushions.................. :rotfl: We're trying to not let it get too traumatic, for anyone. But.............:( However, some medicine has hit its mark and made it's way into BG's system, and appears to have made them better today from that which they were yesterday. The medicine that missed its mark is now in the washing machine, with the clothes that it splattered...............
inod - when little Max surprised Chris in the studio...................
We went for a quick whizz up the high street, to get a breath of fresh air and pick up some kiddie grade ibuprofen, along with some other bitsabobs.
I have no idea what is for tea. BG slept quite well, but this mumma didn't and I'm a little bit on planet zog at present. DH keeps telling me to go to bed, but I'm useless at sleeping in bed in the day and whilst I'm more likely to snooze in a chair, there has been a little personage about up until about 20 minutes ago, wanting to be read stories, and now DH is (very kindly) wafting the hoover about. So a snoozette has been hard to procure and I remain on planet zog. It'll probably be cardboard box fish and oven chips with mushy peas for us tea. Lawks, I sound like a broken record...................
Can't think of owt else :money: or supremely interesting to witter on about. So I'm off to stare vacantly at something else.

Hope BG continues to get better and you get a good nights sleep.
Medicine joys! I must admit that is one of the better sides of youngest being on meds since days old. She knows no better
Hugs where needed

My dd loathed antibiotics. Still does. Especially the yukky banana flavoured ones - and they didn't do blackcurrant flavour. She would rather suffer than take them. The only time I recall her 'willingly' taking them was when she had a double ear infection, was supposed to take them x4 per day, and accepted x2 per day. It had to be followed quickly by a piece of bread to take away the taste. And she has survived so far, so it hasn't done her any harm,, not taking them.
Hope you get a better night's sleep.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Aw lovely, now see, that is why I'm always counting my blessings - I really am - I always think of children, and their parent(s) who have medical issues/conditions/medicine to stay alive on a daily basis and how hard it must be to cope. So our situation is temporarily traumatising all round, but it is that, temporary. If I had a magic wand - I'd wave it for us all to make conditions curable, or if they weren't well then at least I'd appoint Mr William Wonky-i-R in charge of making antibiotics and all other medicines taste of blueberry-bubblegum-apple pie-marshmallow-icecream sundae-any other fantastical child-friendly flavour y'all could think of........... and task him to 'make it so' before sundownapple_muncher wrote: »My dd loathed antibiotics. Ack, 'tis our nemisis right thereYukky blessed banana. Although DH and I agree that we detect a scent of 'Love Heartz' in this particular batch - but banana I think it's supposed to be. We wouldn't mind if it DID taste of banana - BG eats 'em (unlike their mumma at the same age.... ) But honestly, how far removed from any banana y'all have ever tasted does this stuff remind you of? I find it amazing that we can flavour beige gloop to taste like summat straight out of a multi-accredited restaurant - the minute it comes out of the microwave, pinged to oblivion, and yet we have not been able to make a 'cocktail' of drugs taste of owt less than 'bitter', ''powdery', 'sharp' or any other unpalatable flavouring you care to come up with - especially if you are under 12 yrs of age!
DH and I spent the latter part of the afternoon watching a slushy made-for-TV Chrimbobs movie on chanel Cinq :smileyhea:rudolfWe pointed out ALL the continuity errors and had a right laugh and felt all festive :santa2: Ha Ha Ha :rotfl:
Cardboard box fish, oven chips and mushy peas for us tea. Must crack on and plate up.

Also on the chippy trail, Mrs E out for a friend's birthday tonight.
Antibiotics are not just dreadful for the banana flavour (the stain-iest substance invented?) but also for the fact that they are harder to get into an infant the sicker they are! DD at the start of an illness will literally fight to avoid antibiotics, DD one day in will give them to herself if given the syringe0 -

I SO could have written that^ edinburgher, definitely 'easier' (relatively) the longer BG is ill, although they don't yet get any satisfaction over having 'control' of the syringe, But if BG is calm enough to allow me to set the syringe in their mouth, then I know I stand a fair chance of getting them to swallow the medicine - but at the start when they really, really need to be taking the medicine........... And yes, I agree - why does the medicine need to stain everything? It occured to me that if serious medications are made too palatable, well then it would be too easy to unintentionally overdose, so the sensible part of me can see why they are yukky - just wish there was a magic wand to wave to make children accept the dose to make them better. But why does it have to stain?
Anyhoo, the good news is that we got just about enough of the medication into BG for them to start getting better. They are still coughing, but the breathing is better and the wheezing gone, and they have really perked up energy-wise etc. For that I am grateful! My cold is stubbornly hanging about, but I've only lost one more night's sleep - and whilst I could do with a 'catch-up', I'm grateful that I am at least getting to sleep. Even if I feel about 5, going to bed at 7.30pm........
We've been having hit & miss teas. Far too much pasta has been consumedBut I did a nice cauliflower cheese & mushroom bake the other day, with a cauli from HB, which was infinitely superior to the caulis on offer in mrL. I also made a chilli last night, using the bagged frozen mixed beans that have been on offer in h3r0n fuds, at 2forapand. They are 450g (I think) bags from birdz eyes, and the ones I got were the mexican mix - red kidney, black bean and chickpea. No waste and good value for money I think.
Tea tonight will be black olive pizza and wedges.
I'm managing to get on with my crafting projects. I've learnt alot (one project has taken along time, and not achieved the 'stash busting' i'd envisaged, but it's been educational and interesting to undertake). BG was super co-operative yesterday and participated in my crafty antics. It was alot of fun, and whilst the outcome was very homespun and artisanal and mostly wonky, it's the first time I've done it, and will probably be the last, as I don't think BG will stand still anywhere near their dear mumma in the 6-week run-up to Christmas in future years.......:rotfl:
I've completed my purchases for our FB donation. I actually came in slightly under budget for 'our' donation, and slightly over for BG's donation - but evened out, it amounts to 1p over the overall budget. Not too shabby - especially as I found a penny on the pavement the other day - which of course I wombled.......We'll enjoy handing that over at the start of December, and hope that it supports folks for Chrimbobs and beyond. Although £25 doesn't get you much, even with lazer-focused shopping around.................
November seems to have been a bit of a write-off with illness etc. But we've bobbled along ok. Budgets have been busted with needing to buy 'ease' 'convenience' and items not budgetted for. But I'm cutting myself some slack and seeing what I can do to keep spending on an even keel over all.
Can't think of owt else :money: to record, so best crack on. BG is snoozing, and I've chores, domestic, to attend to.
