  • Good Morning :hello:

    INOD - I dunno wot u mean................... :eek::rotfl:

So here we are again at Friday. I've some bits and bobs to pick up in Greying Town today. I'm not sure what the weather will do, it's started bright enough, but I thought the UK was going to be battered by blustery showers today? Ah well, best get going soonest and try to beat any incoming I guess.

Tea tonight will be mushroom pizza and oven chips. Haven't had mushroom for a while and picked up a punnet from mrL in their PoTW on Tuesday.

I'm going to give some thought to how I can better use the space I have freed up. I don't really want to 're-fill' it as such. Certainly not mindlessly anyway. When I was participating in.... (did I participate?) the UFM-J, there was an interesting discussion pertaining to 'throw cushions' on beds (?:D). We - funnily enough - don't have any throw cushions on our bed. The only place I have ever encountered them, was in the s/catering place we stayed at on hols several times, and they got taken off and shoved in the cupboard when we arrived; to be retrieved and replaced when we left :rotfl:But when I was pregnant, I bought about 6 'small' cushion pads, the sort you 'strew' on sofas, with the intention of creating 'funky' covers on them that said 'welcome' and 'home' and 'hello' - y'know, like you always see in them there fancy magazines. Well, those cushion pads have yet to see the light of day. The material is still sat in my 'stash' box, and the lettering samples still in my craft folder. Do we need sofa cushions?

    Mmmmmmmmm

All I hear (possibly because I'm tuned in more than anything else) is how we all gather too much 'stuff' and can travel through life much lighter - there was someone talking to Jason Mohammad on Claire Balding's R2 show on Sunday about it. I wonder how 'low' it is practical to go with a family? Certainly I'm trying to be more mindful of purchases now. It's all very well being able to let expensive stuff 'go' without regret. It is, however, far better to have not bought it in the first place.......

Right, I best seize the day I think. The weather does look to be changing already, so best get shifting.

Ta for popping in and discussing oscillations and fluctuations :rotfl:

:rotfl: :rotfl: Greying :D :rotfl: How funny :rotfl:

Our house is littered with cushions :o Mr Cheery is an absolute cushion and blanket fiend. He can't pass them up anywhere :rotfl: we don't have 'scatter cushions' on the bed mind, but he has a bad back and has many, many pillows for propping purposes (which probably explains my disinclination to change the sheets as often as I should :o ) Sofa also has many cushions, which makes it extremely comfortable :D

But life would indeed probably be easier without them :rotfl: But if I got rid of all the cushions Mr Cheery would likely swiftly follow, and while it certainly would stay tidier round here without him, I think I'd be a bit sad :o

    :D

I'm popping into Cheery Town today too so I shall keep you virtual company :j

    Greying :D

It'll be fantastic! All the kids will be like "woah! What is THAT??" and will all be gathered round while BG explains to their friends that back in the olden days, the dinosaurs used cassettes to listen to music on. And everyone (including the teacher by that point I should imagine! *sigh*) will be amazed it's not in a museum or something!! :rotfl:

My dearest starnac - that is such a positive spin :D I suspect that children, being children, will be much more adept at sniffing out how different BG's fossilised auld parents are...... :( :rotfl: I've already got hives thinking about sports day. Although I did get some reassurance from Chr1s Evans talking about it on R2 before the summer hols, saying that parents races were getting banned up and down the country, because parents were getting too competitive. Whatever happened to 'taking part', and 'everyone's a winner'? :D;) Maybe I'll get super-fit and lull 'em all into a false sense of security with my zimmer-frame........ :rotfl:

Cheery love, I have every sympathy with Mr Cheery - actually, my 'leaning' is toward him with cushions and blankets - especially 'crafty' or 'funky' or 'colourful' cushions & blankets. It screams 'home' to me. I guess the best compromise would be to have somewhere you consider 'home' and have such items in moderation - I'd certainly rather have cushions and blankets over 'nick nacks' and 'ornaments'. But that is showing my un-love of housework/dusting....... :(

And dunna contemplate getting rid of the cushions if Mr Cheery would follow :( That isn't good at all - I reckon we'd all be too sad. Hang onto the cushions and Mr C :D Mucho more cheerful :D

Indeed :D I shall languish in my house of cushions :rotfl: and I've never been known to throw a blanket away myself so I don't know why I'm trying to blame him :rotfl:

Got a bargain today - 3 tubs of grapes for £1 from the market :money: It was getting towards the end of the day so they were trying to get rid. We're going through grapes at a rate of knots at the minute as they're one of the few things Mr Cheery can eat so always good to stock up :D
  • despite trying to declutter, we are big fans of throws and cushions in the living and sitting rooms. what we're aiming for is a balance between hygge and kondo. someday we might even achieve this :)

  • Good Morning :hello:

    Bargainacious grapes Cheery! :D

Mmmm, I think - speaking personally - cushions and blankets would appear in certain types of home. I would be more likely to have them in Greying Towers, due to it being cold. But I think I would be less likely to have them in a modern, brand new house. I would hope that insulation would take that 'cosiness' role for me, I think. I've always liked the idea of a kitchen large enough for a sofa/chairs even a small logburner, so I'd like the idea of cushions/blankets in that scenario. Along with a useful kitchen table, that would make it the heart of the home for me :D

I was watching a bat earlier. I was amazed that it was about in so much light. It was certainly way lighter than it is at 'dusk', and yet it seemed to still be hunting - either that or it was having a bit of a 'free-fly' (or showing off :D) Still, all free entertainment for me :D

I've admin to attend to today, and several bits and pieces to pick up from Greying Town again. I MUST get better at list writing! But it does provide excercise, so it is a bit of a double-edged sword really. We were going to try to shoe-horn in a trip to the chazza to drop off the bits - might be one step too many, given traffic etc. We'll see.

Tea last night was HM mushroom pizza and oven chips. The oven chips seem to vary in how they cook - despite being in the same branded bag each time. They cooked nicely last night, looked like all the pictures in the adverts :rotfl:The pizza was yummy. I rarely make mushroom pizza, and then really enjoy it when I do!

Tea this evening is definitely going to be curry - but I've not checked what type, and I know that my meal plan is upstairs currently. I'll double-check just now. We don't currently have any gifted produce to use up, so it will be back to using up storecupboard ingredients.

Right, I can hear DH and BG up and about, so I best go and pop t'kettle on :D

    Ta for popping in. Appreciated.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Just catching up... yes I smiled at the scatter cushion talk on Mrs FW's blog. I think we probably have too many...but the thing we really need to get shot of is DVDs which we rarely watch as we use Netflix etc. May be time for another clear out, but DDs reluctant to let go of family favourites.

Love the meals as ever....you have just reminded me that I can make egg fried rice this eve using my left over rice from Thursday :) Yum
