  • Good Morning :hello:

hiddenidentity - no need to lurk :D I suppose I'm getting round to thinking £160 is probably fair for what we eat, and given our shopping options. Whilst access to absolute YS bargains (not sure they exist in the abundance they once did anyway - which is probably a good thing) or a decent multi-stalled market would help us, I'm not sure what else would. I'm not convinced a 'junk' diet is cheaper - certainly not for long-term health, which is one of my priorities now we have BG to look after. Thank you for popping in and offering encouragement - appreciated.

apple - i see that you can get Engl1sh Her1tage membership with CCvouchers now. Not too sure how this would work out 'value' wise. I suppose the value of b/down cover (to us) will always trump it, but if i manage to raise an outdoor loving child who wants to run free around a load of old ruins, and then come back to the blanket for a sanger and a slice of cake, it might be worth the investment! And we'd just have to hope the car didn't give up, either going there or coming back :rotfl:

beanie - don't be too hard on yourself. i'm not convinced mrT's (or the others) was 'always' so overpriced, and I remember aldee in Greying Town didn't inspire many people to shop there when it first opened. The staff had to remember all the prices of the products! aldee, l1dl, h0me barg1ns etc are all 'relatively' new.

Tea last night ended up being a piece of the red pepper and lentil bake, steamed (gifted) runner beans in THIS sauce (scroll down to recipe 3), steamed carrots and brown rice. It tasted good, looked appalling! Hence no pic :rotfl: The lack of natural light (rain) was to blame. i also made some cake, a cherry sponge and a £1 Chocolate Fudge cake (mine doesn't look like the one in the pic :rotfl:). I couldn't say if the pricing is still current, but it's an easy cake to put together. I always melt my fat if I've no veg oil in. Works just fine. I also always put a speck of salt in, to help the coffee bring out the chocolately flavour :D

Tea tonight will be pizza and oven chips :D

I've a walk with a chum lined up today - hopefully if we have to nick into coffee shop, I'll just have a beverage, keep costs in check :D

Can't think of anything else MS to report at the min......

    Yesterday I was grateful for;

meet-ups with chums to look forward to :D

another 'use-up' tea (definitely keeping the UFM - mindfulness going :D)

living within my means and having the wherewithall to pay my bills
    - extremely grateful for that one.......

Ta for popping in. Appreciated. Greatly.

:rotfl: Thanks honey - lovely to *see* you :D

We've had our meet up, play-date and chitter-chatter with our chum. As it was, we had a wander, played on some play gear and nattered our hearts out. Didn't cost a bean :D And even the weather played ball :DLife is good :D

Baby Greying is having a belated snoozette now, so I think I'll make up the pizza dough, and then it'll be lunch time.

Ooh, glad you've had a lovely meet up with a chum Greying :applause:

Would you believe I actually COOKED last night?? :j :j Just a straightforward chick pea curry, but I had some leftover tinned pineapple so that went in too (LOVE tinned pineapple in a curry, but I have discovered I do NOT love it in my breakfast smoothie...)

Anyway, I was feeling very pleased with myself for having cooked a proper meal (Mr Cheery is still eating oddly after his operation) and almost as soon as I finished eating... a friend rang to invite us round for dinner :rotfl: :rotfl: We went round but just had to LOOK at her beautiful spinachy pie, as neither of us could possibly have eaten any of it :rotfl:

Hey ho. I'm working at home today and have just lunched on some of the leftovers of my curry - most delicious :D and there's still a bit left that I can expand a bit with some mushrooms and salad for tea :j

Have a lovely rest of the day, whatever you're up to :)
  • Cheery - that sounds like a fab tea :j:j I love that your idea of a 'good night' out is going round to have a look at someone else's tea :rotfl: Love, you have hit frugal entertainment G.O.L.D* :D

Chorefest this arvo, so not much to recommend the afternoon :( But we've lunch to cram in before then, so I'm away to roust up BG :D

I thought you said you were going to ROAST BG then!   Gosh. I need to get my eyes tested :o

I suppose if I was PROPER frugal I would have brought some pie home with me for tonight's tea :D But that seemed rather cheeky, and to be honest there wasn't too much left :rotfl: :rotfl: so I suppose it's good that I didn't rely on it :rotfl:

I have been having a typing fest this afternoon, this particular bit of work involves me sitting alone with headphones and typing furiously for hours on end  It's interesting, but goodness me I am stiff and in need of a walk  Spoke to what feels like about 14,000 estate agents (ok, it was four) to book viewings, need to rearrange another, and ring the council tax people before they shut.

Think I might take this opportunity to take a little wander to the shops for some more milk before Mr Cheery gets back. Will have to do a bit of work this evening but then I didn't really start til 11, so...
  • Hey up looks like everything is grand in here.

{fanfare} we picked our first runner beans today - I got two.

    I know, you're well jell.

By this time next week I'm sure I'll be sick of them but right now they're like the food of the gods, love that sometimes the first of everything is so tasty.

Glad cheery was wrong about roasting BG - seems a bit of a waste somehow. Love that you had fun with your chum and I'm joining you on the being grateful for all the bills being paid and having chums to see and use it up evenings - :)

    Have a good one!

    {also glad universe is restored and its pizza and wedges for tea.}

I may join you on both counts, pizza in fridge and alien mishapen tatties which could easily be wedges on the counter.

    XOXOXO

  • Good Morning :hello:

I adore that in *this space* (DFW/MFW), we can talk about wibbly-wobbly veg, frugal entertainment, 'Tilly Tidies', film nights with DVD's and HM popcorn, etc etc etc, and totally get one another :D To have found such an online 'Tribe' is such a life-enhancing thing - for which I am very grateful :D

Yesterday, I was also grateful for something, which I suppose boils down to 'my lot'. You don't have to listen for very long, to situations that afflict others - whether those people are on the other side of the world, or on you doorstep - to count your blessings. Sometimes we are quick to dimiss our own problems as 'first world' issues. But if it's you going through them, at that moment in time......... Yesterday, I was very grateful that I had my family (DH & BG), a roof over our heads, food in our cupboards and love in our lives.

BG is currently playing happily by my side - I'm feeling blessed and lucky this morning.

Tea last night was black olive pizza and oven chips. The oven chips were from h3ron, and have more taste than the m&$ ones. However, I would rather be making wedges from wibbly-wobbly tatties. I bet they have heaps more taste :D There is pizza left over that has been popped into the freezer for a quite lunch or an emergency tea for another day.

Tea this evening will be curry, dhal and either rice or naan - depending on time available. We've been lucky to be gifted more runner beans, so i think i will be digging out my sri lankan runner bean recipe - although I spotted something online yesterday and I'll have to check if it sounds any better that the recipe I intend to follow.

    Right breakfast is calling.

Thanks for popping in, reading and joining in the conversation :D It's appreciated. Greatly. By me. Always :D

Thanks for posting that it made me smile and yes often we can't see the beauty in those simple things as free beans or (wobbly, yet delish) tatties.

Enjoy your weekend - I'm watching the bean recipes with trepidation because as we all know if there are one or two - there are a gazillion and often all at once.

Didn't manage pizza feasted on <24hr old wobblesome wedges who knew pink fir apple tatties could be so entertaining! Each one a unique shape of crazy.

    Have a good one.
