  • As with so many stores, we don't have that chain "over here" so I went and had a nosey on the website. The logo is we do it right. If it were me, I'd have some fun featuring that in the various elements of my complaint. I note they also have a price match promise that is only applicable for in store. That would also feature heavily in any correspondence

    On another note, can one of you highly knowledgeable foodies help me out please? I periodically use grated apple in making a little loaf. Does anyone know if it's safe to peel, grate and freeze apples for later use?

    I think if it was a 'subtle' tasting apple, it would probably lose it's flavour somewhat from freezing. I also think it would be 'wetter' when defrosted, so may have an impact on the dough. However, I would certainly try it, and see what happens. It may also discolour on freezing/defrosting, which is not a huge problem. You can buy frozen apple pie, so freezing apple is not a no-no IYSWIM.

    I'm disappointed as I use W1ickes a lots and don't want them to be horrid :o but I've never had cause to use their delivery service as they're very close to us and I'm not generally trying to wield a small child at the same time as whatever DIY paraphenalia I'm trying to stuff in the car...

    On this occasion, it was just that we couldn't have fitted the item in our car, so we needed it to be delivered. We use W1ckes alot too, and if I can pick the thing up from the shelf, pay and return to store if needed, then I will continue to use them. I just will not order anything online that needs delivering. Ever.

    We've had 4 seasons in 1 day today Cheery! But it was lovely and sunny when I scooted up the high street this morning, and I think we can claim to have topped our vit D up today :D Your friend is right :D There is always something to be grateful for - regrettably there will always be someone worse off in the world than ourselves :(

    I have looked up the email addy's of the CEOs of both companies, and will be composing them a 'note' afore long. I was told to refuse the item if the delivery co. tried to deliver today - I don't think they would bother as Saturday is a chargeable day. There has been no knock at the door anyway. Technically (the CS bod hoped not) I might have to wait up to 14 days to be refunded - given that they seemingly have no idea what the delivery company have done with my item. I suppose they are covering themselves.

    But yes, I am absolutely flabbergasted that in this technological/digital/spy-in-the-sky day and age, it can seemingly be impossible to get an item delivered from a to b.

    DH was as mad as me at all the messing around, and suitably crest-fallen that he didn't do sufficient research. But hopefully the matter will sort itself out, and we can regroup and start looking for the item again. If we'd overpaid for the item, well then we would just have had to suck it up, but all this nonsense over the 'no-show delivery' has really got us rankled.

    Curry for tea is going to be a bit 'seat of pants-ish' because I haven't really done a shop yet (as such) and don't have alot of things to choose from. I think I ought to be drummed out of Club MSE, as I don't even have any tinned tomatoes in the house :eek:........ :rotfl:I have got a nice ripe galia melon though, YS'd to 70p from m&$. I snapped it up, as I know that similar size melons are 85p in the over-priced on somethings grocers. Which actually reminds me, I need to add something to my shopping list to make best use of it....... ;) Today's Yellowing YS'd herb in m&$ was flat-leaf parsley....... It wouldn't be so bad if it was YS'd to tuppence or something - you'd take a punt that there might be some flavour left, but no, still 63p.

    I had to get some items from sooperdrugg - normally the item is 'buy 1 get 1 half-price'. There was only 1 on the shelf. I asked at the till if there was anymore in stock, and they got a colleague to look for more stock (which there was, out back). This meant i got the items cheaper - although technically I spent more, but as it was what I was expecting to have to pay, then it all worked out. I'm glad I asked :D

    I possibly won't be back later - I'm struggling to keep my eyes open as it is.

    But thank you for all your support and good wishes, and for confirming that bad service is bad service, and it shouldn't really happen in this day and age......

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    more gifts, freely given

    neighbour across-the-way's delicious sense of humour and fun

    my hard-working, imperfect, but wouldn't-be-without-'im DH :D

    Thanks for popping in, reading and joining in. I'll try to take a pic of me tea and locate the recipe it's based on, and post when I can.

    And another one here :(. Seems worse somehow when you know the area.
    A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
