    Good Morning :hello:

First day of the challenge and I've just spent a shed-load of money - am I doing this right? Yes, I did go through TCB - but I always have difficulty with my purchases tracking, I knock everything off (filters etc), and tcb knows I have been to where I have bought stuff from, but still..... Martin's mantra about not buying stuff counting on the cashback is right in my case :( Why can't it just track for once - especially as there is supposed to be 'extra' discount for a few days (including today).

I'm off out to lunch with a mum-chum today, which will be nice to natter and catch up. Tea will be a buddha bowl made with dregs, as I'll not have time to go up the high street today. And tomorrow I will be marooned at the house all day, waiting for a blessed delivery it would appear :( Wouldn't mind, but it's not something for me and is entirely practical not frivolous!

    Right, must dash.

Ta for popping by, reading and talking yoghurt making - I agree greenbee the cooling down waiting was quite the worst and why I switched to making it with UHT.

EDIT: YAY!!! tcb must read this - it's tracked already :j I know that's not paid out, but it is such a vast improvement on the 3 previous purchases I have made through TCB - 1 of which I forgot about, and 2 of which I'm chasing - that I'm :j It also proves I'm not doing anything wrong/ leaving filters on :j

Good news on the cashback GP :)

Yogurt looks like it has a lot of whey. I'm going to decant it, taste it and either stir it up or strain it. But I'll be sticking with UHT in future!

Quickly jumping on in between cooking up a storm ;) and whilst BG is catching up on their much needed snoozette.

In talking about the challenge last night, I totally forgot to mention that I ended the month with £3 + *some shrapnel* once the 45p I owe DH is factored in (set it aside, just forgot to give it to him )

I'm delighted by this - although I suppose I have 'fudged' things a little, because in theory I have bulk bought things, but then I was flicking through my accounts yesterday and noted that I had bulk bought some beans and spices too, and accommodated that within my grocery budget, so swings and roundabouts......

I'm doubley delighted, as I wanted to use any surplus to make a FB donation. I was disappointed, looking a 'mesupermercado' yesterday, to note that mrS has hiked the price of the 6 box of UHT to £4.25 from £3.50 :( (OK if they are passing the increase on to farmers, but are they?), but in fairness to them, that is still cheaper than mrT and mrM. However, outta my budget! Imagine my delight therefore, when I happened to notice yesterday that HB have the 'M00' brand UHT milk back in :j This has a screwtop lid (they had gone to dreadful tetrapak's that once open, were open iyswim), and the S/Skimmed is 50p a carton = 6 cartons I can purchase :j

Good job i'm easily pleased :D

Right, no time for leisure, better get shifting, time is a ticking.

Have to confess that I never bother clearing cookies, or turning anything off when I use TCB - and the only time I generally have any issues is when I try to be cheeky and combine an unapproved discount code with cashback! :D gave up on £co a long while back though as the issues I had with stuff tracking on there, combined with them charging me a fiver a year for the privilege of them being less efficient than TCB made me decide it wasn't worth it.

Good news on your surplus Greying - but while I *do* understand why you want to make the donation, I still feel that if you are struggling as much with increasing food prices pinching an already tight budget as you clearly are - at the moment that surplus would be better put aside to bolster a future month when things may be even tighter. There's a lot of truth to "charity beginning at home" laudable though it is to want to donate. :)

I don't disagree with that viewpoint, and it certainly is the view DH holds. I suppose that I still hold on to the fact that despite squeakiness and sometimes doing without or whatever, we still have more than some people.......

But a perfectly valid point, well put. And something to ponder on.

I wouldn't mind if I was being cheeky and combining codes etc, but I was being snow bloomin white and doing it all 'proper' :rotfl: I even decided to do cashback for NT rather than go with the HDUK voucher code that gave you £15 off in the nt shop, as I figured £6 in my pocket was a better deal - now I ain't so sure!

    Good Morning :hello:

It's gonna be a long day. I'm waiting in for a delivery. It's being delivered by one of those companies, that despite 'tracking' takes over an hour to update progress...... We'll gloss over the fact that the item has already been taken 15+ miles past Greying Town, being taken from the company hub to the company despatch centre..... They cudda just dropped it off.......

I had free delivery of an item the other week. It came the next day, well under 24 hrs from order, and was delivered by a firm that gave a delivery 'window', moment by moment tracking and who actually delivered the item within the first 2 minutes of the delivery window. It would have been within the first minute if the delivery person hadn't walked straight past my house with the parcel in their hand, not looking at house numbers..........Free is not always equal. But I know which company I would order from again, and which I would avoid if at all possible......

Technology exists to be used and assist........

I'm not in the mood for pizza again this week :( Perhaps I ought to come up with something else for Fridays in 'summer'. Can't think what though.

I did take a pic of last night's tea. I'll upload it when I can - don't be too underwhelmed...... I'll see if I can find the 'recipe' too.

Day 2 of the challenge, and I think we'll be on 'tidying/sorting' today. Not glamorous, but all adds to the total picture. I might also see if I can place an order with Dune1m using tcb - there is supposed to be 4% cashback - but funnily enough, the dune1m website never lets me place an order when I go through tcb......... strange that.

Right, best shift a tail feather - dust, paperwork, and general cr*p never did shift 'em selves.....

    Ta for reading. Pree-she-ate-it :D

So for tea last night we had puy lentil, brown rice and sweet potato salad, with falafel and green beans. I didn't do the seed topping nor drizzle from the puy lentil recipe (although that is the recipe I followed - didn't use seaweed either, hadn't got any!) and I used Isa's falafel recipe and I do pan-fry my falafel, they always disintergrate if I try deep-frying. I had everything in the store cupboard/freezer for this tea, so didn't buy anything extra. So I think it counts as a buddha bowl :j

    I used my goto citrus, miso, tahini dressing for the top, along with toasted sesame, pumpkin and sunflower seeds. Picture here;

I'm still awaiting delivery. According to the computer it is still languishing in the delivery depot. DH was in charge of researching this item, and rather predictably, looked no further than the end of his nose and only looked at DIY companies. I have just found the same dang item, provided by a specialist firm for £57 less..........and they do free delivery. Grrrr.
