Derbyshire pub fights back in tripadvisor backlash over "parking fines"

Options
Pub takes on PPC, PPC does what it does, customers complain on trip advisor, pub bites back

notable quote (tail wagging the dog?)
In an emailed response, the pub said: "I have seen your review entitled 'parking scam'. I am deeply offended by your accusation. "The parking system is not a scam at all - it is a step we have had to take to protect misuse.
"We pay a lot of money to cancel tickets for guests who missed the signs

Good way to lose customers (or even potential customers), especially in a time where pubs are closing at roughly 1 a week.

The Devonshire Arms have done themselves no favours.
Maybe they did not know about parking vermin ? They probably did if it was commission based.

Shame, it looks like a nice pub, now with a bad name.
Registering your reg number is simply not on if you are spending money with them, as its local, word will spread quickly

So what if someone parks and walks the dog ..... let them built up a thirst to spend money, this landlord has well and truly told them p*ss off

May I just point out that the POLL at the bottom of the page shows that 67% (as of this moment in time) of people, 566 voters, think that the pub is in the right :)

Feel sorry for businesses sometimes. They own a plot of land which they convert into a car park and every man with his dog (pun intended) thinks they can park there for free!

Sadly, one or two patrons do not follow the guidelines on display. They are charged but, upon establishing they were genuine patrons, the pub offers to write off the debt. That's really good, none of this UKPC nonsense!

Quite why you'd then go on to post a 1-star review based SOLELY on the parking guidelines, when they offer to write off any debt with no hassle, is beyond me!

566 voters ?? now that is a lot of regulars, must be the most popular pub in the UK ?

It is called retaliation and to happen so quickly as well.

Maybe their clientele are parking companies

There speaks the newly-arrived to this forum 'PPC apologist' (who has not denied working for a PPC) in argument mode - again.

What this PPC voicepiece hasn't mentioned is that parking firms actively seek out landowners and tell them they have a parking problem that they can solve. This isn't landowners actually making a decision to get a parking firm in, it's the other way around, they are...let's say...very often 'persuaded'.

In fact it would not be beyond the realms of possibility (seeing as so many of the scumpanies are ex-clamper thugs) to actually create a parking 'problem' VERY EASILY for a few weeks having targeted a likely site, then rock up to 'solve it' waving a contract under their nose and telling them how wonderful it will be when their patrons can park. Not telling them it's those patrons who will be 'fined'.

The modus operandi of this shameful industry bears all the hallmarks of a protection racket and should not exist in its current form.

In case anyone missed it yesterday because this poster's most unwise post was reported & removed, this newbie to this board delved through my posts, multi-quoted me and jumped to a completely wrong conclusion and accused me of deceit on a thread where I stopped a wife thinking she could be the Defendant when the court papers named her husband...

The complaint on Trip Advisor was A SCAM.

I think that anyone who thinks otherwise has a reason for doing so

Talk about "give a pub a bad name". But, it's not usually the landlord that does it. ... in this case its a Parking scammer invited in by the
    landlady.

Rest assured, The Devonshire Arms will now suffer because there is a PPC floating around

PPC's will destroy any business, WHY ? because they are vermin who like to extort money from innocent people

Looking at some of the reviews/complaints about this pub, they charge £10 for two pints of Perroni lager, that's my fav, but that really takes the p*ss.

They have two problems ...... overcharging and employing vermin in their car park.

Someone needs to have a serious chat to this couple because once a pub goes bust ..... IT GOES BUST

I doubt you'd very critical of the poll if "no" had been voted for by 67% of the people :)

Funny how you ridicule the poll and the people who voted on it, purely because the outcome did not agree with your opinion.
