Derbyshire pub fights back in tripadvisor backlash over "parking fines"

I'm defending common sense and decency from other motorists,
If the PPC's showed common sense and decency we might agree with you ..... they don't
If a pub landlord decides he/she wants to penalise customers who let's not forget pay their wages, they deserve bad reviews.
So, be it UKPC or any of the vermin/muppets, they are scammers and I feel sorry for the staff of these PPC's who accept a salary knowing that someone has probably been scammed.
The pub concerned need to get their act together quickly as a damage limitation is in their best interest. They need to kick the PPC out. Let's hope that they have not signed a long contract because their business could go bust well before the end of the contract, then the PPC will be a creditor looking for their pound of flesh
This is a warning to all publicans ...... DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH SCAMMERS0 -
I'm actually surprised that a charity has never gone into the PPC business with a £30/£60 type fee.
Most people would think they were ripping off a charity if they didn't pay the initial fee and would probably think that a charity would never rip them off.
Strike that. I'm actually surprised that a PPC hasn't found a way to turn themselves into a charity with the Directors being 'forced' to draw very, very large salaries before giving a miniscule amount to good causes. :-)
As to this pub I've passed it a few times before, never felt the need to go in and now never will. I'd also point out that if it costs the landlords money to waive an invoice then the scammers here would be the PPC and the landlords lawyers who didn't properly check the contract.0 -

You summed up the charities in one paragraph
Doubt the pub had it checked out by solicitors, that costs ?
So you could be passing trade ? avoid, the pub has no idea.
As said, the couple who run this pub should sit down with a professional to now discover how they can save their business, would hate to see them going bust due to ignorance0 -

The Royal British Legion was in this biz for many years and managed without a fee at all - Instead it provided a bit of work for ex-servicemen who actually managed the parking.
They then sold-up the parking operation to a PPC a few years back who promptly started using all the usual tricks instead of managing parking!0 -
If this is becoming a thread about the ethics/mechanics of parking controls, then relatively speaking, I guess my local Waitrose must count as one of the good guys. No barriers despite it being a busy town centre location, and 'only' a £25 charge for overstaying the 2 hour limit. No complex or confusing signs (although I'm sure there could be more of them...), and yet I rarely struggle to get a space.
Honestly no idea how Britannia (the PPC) make any money here unless Waitrose pay them for their services.
Ironically, 10 years ago the car park actually had barriers and someone on the exit to police the £10 minimum spend rule, which is now completely unenforceable. Looks like Waitrose now think an honour system works for them0 -
