  • I didn't think they'd know about as it was under 20hrs a week did that for 2 years
So you were committing benefit fraud in two different ways?

Sorry to say this but I am glad that they caught you out but they didn't "trick" you, you lied not once but twice.

I hope that other people take this sorry story into account if they are ever tempted to commit benefit fraud.

Got it brought forward as couldn't stand the stress of waiting they tricked me saying our records show that you've only had this job I agreed, then they pulled out wage sleeps for a part time job I had years ago I didn't think they'd know about as it was under 20hrs a week did that for 2 years. Didn't have a job for a few years then started work last August.

I'm basically screwed I guess better get my mind set for jail if I can as if my maths are correct the repayment will be around £20,000

    Thats not tricking you!

How many times have you lied?

This has got to be wind up. I can't see who would employ anyone with this mindset, never mind two employers.

No tricks here. You lied to them. And actually, you lied to everyone here too. You'd thought you got away with it before, so you came up with a pathetic story about depression to excuse your SECOND theft of benefits. You really disgust me. It is people like you that give benefit claimants and people with genuine sickness or disability a bad name. They are paying the price for your dishonesty with systems that make it almost impossible for genuine claimants to ever get a penny, whilst you play the system and steal £00,000s. Anyone capable of pulling off this is no way sick enough to be claiming benefits in the first place. You deserve everything you get.

Permitted work may have been officially authorised/allowed but unless the OP sought that permission, he is in the 'wrong'

If you are considering starting permitted work you must tell the DWP or Jobcentre Plus and get their approval. [B The general rule is that these benefits are paid because you are not fit for work and will stop if you do some work[/B]
Exactly, that's exactly what my daughter had to do at one point. Sadly after doing just a few hours a week permitted work set her health back a couple of years and she had to give it up.
From reading threads on here problems seem to arise when people 'forget'.

i have no qualms about the genuine people in our society that need help with various benefits. But why dont they put lists up in the townhall of the people who are on these benefits so they are open for anyone to see to see.
I think you would see a lot of the genuine fraudsters dont want to see their names highlighted in the town hall, i see them walking around my town on pip the higher rate & they are walking perfectly ok, because they think that people dont know about it , im pretty sure i wouldnt want my name up on the town hall wall unless i was really genuine.

I think you're taking the p*ss. How many other jobs have you had, or are these the only ones to have been proved to date? If you were intending to be honest then you should have mentioned your part time job.

Start telling the truth. This is life, not a game, and you have been caught out in serious fraud. It makes a mockery of those who rely solely on ESA or other benefits for their basic existence. Shame on you.
  • I am glad that I am not the only person who feels this way about you.

I only wish that your employer finds out about your fraudulent benefit claims and then dismisses you from your job.

They gave you another chance to confess to working whilst claiming some 'help from the State' and they shoved some proof in front of you...???

It's despicable tricking you like that... how dare they! :p

Because it is none of your business? And people can receive higher rates and be able to walk! It isn't up to you or me to decide who is genuine. Thank goodness. Because I don't have medical qualifications! If you do, perhaps you could get a job with whoever is doing the assessments?

This is exactly my point. We have one thief. And suddenly everyone is questioned and has to have their name up on the wall of the town hall! The thieves are a small minority. But they spoil it for every genuine claimant.

NOBODY should have their lives laid bare for the public to see and discuss just because they need benefits. And I still stand by what I said before - prison is not a suitable penalty. But I am fine with repaying the debt to the taxpayer whilst wearing a jacket that declares their crime.

I don't. I want them to work. And have to do more work. And community service. And pay every penny back. Getting sacked is too easy!
