Not much to report honestly as been busy with work and Christmas.
Some good news though. Mr worried has managed to secure another school for after school clubs. They are also wanting lunchtime cover with the possibility of more business if it goes well. He's also been asked to add an extra after school club a week for one of his existing schools (that's now 4 after school clubs a week they want from him) plus he's got another prospective school that want to see him next week so it's definitely picking up.
The extra work he's picking up (processing mortgage applications) may also be expanding as he's considering taking his mortgage qualification (he's already a qualified financial advisor- yeah I know :rotfl:) but not presently registered with FCA.
So, things are definitely looking up. I've also just been accepted at uni for a part time course from
Feb which employers will pay for. Will allow me to specialise in my current role a little more. Sadly it won't increase my salary but should improve job satisfaction.
With regards to stepchange still not contacted them but Mr W is thinking of approaching his creditors directly to see if he can cone to some agreement with regards to his payments.
He's worried about doing it straight away though as will possibly need to use credit card to help pay his tax bill end of Jan. He has done money saved towards it but not all.
In other news. Christmas has been almost bought and we've definitely cut our budget. The last 2 evenings have been spent making fudge - initially for the school Christmas fayre but if they turn out ok then we will make some more as gifts.
Still waiting for news on my tax refund. Tax office say I have to chase my employers so I've done this and currently awaiting news. Trying not to hope too hard though.
So that's a round up - sorry not been around but life gets so busy sometimes xxOct 2016 current unsecured debt £14461.310 -
Right. Time for an update as I've not done anything here since Dec.
I'm still working full time, have managed to cut down on doing extra hours as quite frankly it was making me ill. I've taken on a new course at work which involves studying at university so happier that I'm doing more for me.
The money situation hasn't improved. Hubby is still trying to get the business off the ground. It's slowly becoming bigger but he's still not able to contribute towards any of the household running costs.
He's still working part time in addition to the business for extra income and he's considering doing a mortgage qualification (he used to be a qualified financial advisor but not currently licensed) as there are opportunities for additional income to be early from the place where he has his part time job. My worry is that this isn't a quick fix though.
Some good news today - letter from HMRC telling me that whilst on a training scheme between 2010-2013 I should not have paid tax and NI. Therefore they are refunding me almost £1900 for the NI and a tax refund is being looked at.
This is fantastic news but any monies received will need to go towards debt.
Am considering what to pay off first.
Next account has approx £500 on it
Hsbc credit card £500
Overdraft £2250
Barclaycard approx £2k
Halifax CC approx £9k
Plus I owe my Dad £500 that he loaned me for car deposit
I'm meeting all minimum payments on time at the moment but in all honesty have had to use credit card at times for petrol/food at the end of the month as I'm paying all the other bills on my salary alone.
I guess the Next bill is the higher rate of interest so this first and possibly hsbc card so at least 2 debts are gone and maybe pay Dad with the NI refund and if I get any tax refund was considering trying to reduce barclaycard and overdraft??Oct 2016 current unsecured debt £14461.310 -
Hi Worried
That's great news about the refund! It sounds like you needed a break from somewhere! Paying off Next, HSBC, and dad sounds like a good plan.
I'll keep popping in to see how you're doing - keep us updated!Emergency Fund: £300 / £1,000 (30%).0
