Opened my first about 2 months back, now applying for a second, I have twice got a "there is a problem" message and they say to ring them, is this usual for a second account?

Yes. I had this. If you call them they can pick up the application and put it through for you.43580

I didn't have any problem setting up a second current account but did have problems making payments out of savings accounts. Received a 'there has been a problem. Try again later' message.
They were very good when I phoned them though. Answered quickly and sorted out the problem.0 -
A friend recently tried to open her second current account with Tesco and she also got that message. On phoning them she was told that as she already holds a savings account she cannot open a second current account.0

Is this a new term/condition?
I have two current accounts and two savings accounts and recommended this to an acquaintance who also set these up ( less than a year ago, I think).0 -

I had a problem opening both my accounts and had to ring up. Not due what the problem was but 10 mins later it was sorted.0

I suspect one of them will be an old Clubcard Plus account
If this were closed, the OP's friend could apply for a second current account?0 -

Thanks all, have just rung them and got it opened without any further problems. They must be getting a lot of calls right now, there was quite a queue.0

Does anybody know if they credit check again for a second account?
