Like this thread - thanks OP for starting it. I too am like many on here that buy things from the Charity shop because it's cheap, money going to charity etc etc and then end up taking the stuff back to the shop for them to sell again!

I'm a bit stumped for this challenge as I'm 4 months pregnant and had to buy a load of tops early on because I bloomed really quickly. However my jeans are really holding out (luckily I can wear them to work :j ) I have 3 pairs that are not too small yet but I know at some point I'm going to have to buy some maternity jeans and I really object to paying £30 for a pair of jeans I'm going to wear for 3 months

I've already put a request on freecycle and I have scoured the charity shops but these things are like rocking horse !!!!

    Ho hum.

    EM xx

Have you looked on Ebay?....and Next have a sale coming up, think its the last weekend in Spetember.....or befriend mums with new babies at the Drs & midwife's clinics....or check if they have a swap notice board (mine did buy that was 19+ years ago!)....or even ask your midwife - she may know someone who's willing to loan!

Elliesmum - there is a tutorial somewhere on Craftster on how to turn jeans into maternity jeans, I remember having a quick look at it and thinking it was easy but didn't pay much attention as it is something I'll NEVER need again!

  • I'm enjoying this thread as I do try to buy mostly from charity shops and ebay. But ebay can work out as expensive as the cheaper shops if you're not careful, and the disadvantage is you can't try the clothes on or even look at them properly.Having said that, I have had a couple of bad buys from ebay but most have been good.

OM was away on business overnight so spent a happy evening sorting through the wardrobe and the T-shirt drawer.
Result = 1 bag for charity shop, several items for E-bay and all the really summery things put away.
Also boxed up the Christmas gifts, started packing the shoeboxes and collected all the loose hangers - do they breed?
Shall attack the built-in cupboard and the under-bed drawers this week-end!
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
