And this is the story across the world. Just check out that Twitter account I set up. And those are just the people who bothered to tweet their disgust about this company.

(For the price of the repair, I can buy a brand new Moto G4 from somewhere with GOOD customer service support!)
I would probably do that then and cut your losses.
My OH had a OnePlus phone which was absolutely fantastic, for about 6 months, and then started developing all sorts of little bugs. I haven't hear anyone say they've had one that's lasted for very long.

kieraowl, if you purchase from outside of the UK/EU then you will encounter difficulties when items fail, regardless of fault.

I understand that now, and I won't be making the same mistake again! Thanks for helping me.

*fairylights* - Yes, I am hearing the same thing about reliability. Depressing.

Well, now you have. DH has had his OnePlus Two for over 12 months. Never had a problem with it. Never had cause to test the CS though. I suspect like most things on these forums you don't get lots of people posting "My X item is FABULOUS and never goes wrong", you only tend to read about things when they do break.
I can't see any other way forward for you other than to see if you can get a cheaper repair at a service agent local to you.

When DH bought his he debated insuring it, we decided to get quotes out of interest at local stores for a screen replacement. Not one had heard of it. Research suggested that all issues were return to base and from memory the insurance is through OnePlus themselves.
It's not something that can be repaired locally I'd have thought, unless their popularity has increased massively over the last 12 months.

Thanks *pulliptears* - that's really helpful with regard to the local agents. I suspect that what you found is still true. It really does help me to make a decision, so thank you.

We used to have a really bad mobile signal in the house and bought a booster thing Vodafone were selling. Well this thing never worked from the outset, we spent £40 getting an IT bod into try and connect it to our router, it wouldn't work. In the end Vodafone said to send it back and they would test it.

Guess what, they said it has been water damaged....... Had never been near a source of water in our house.

They wouldn't refund us, all they would do was give us credit to the value of the booster on our mobile contract, after a lot of messing about.

Good old water damage......... the source of many electrical excuses.

Problem here is that the OP is right and the rest of the world who don't agree is wrong .Why is CS poor just because the OP refuses to believe they have damaged the phone and puts up some conspiracy theory .
Water indicators are on as some form of water ingress has taken place be it dunked in the bath or condensation .

For my part i am still recommending One Plus 3 as outstanding value for money as are many Tech Sources .

Egan - my problem isn't just with the water issue. It's with the quality of customer service generally. Seriously, have you tried calling them? It's hard even to get the call to connect.

And yes, I do know for a fact the phone hasn't been wet.

This is a bit like a science experiment, where I say that I have, for sure, controlled for a variable and everyone else tells me I haven't.
