Coventry City Council signed a 25-year deal with Balfour Beatty Lighting Services in 2010-ish.Inner_Zone wrote: »But think of the reduction on your council tax!
There's been no reduction in our Council Tax bills since then - I think the supposedly saved money went to Councillor Ann Lucas' love of the West Midlands Combined Authority.0 -

My experience of LED street lights is the opposite - instead of the soft, easy on the eye orange glow of the old sodium lights, there is now a bright, white harsh 'flood light' type of light, exaggerating the shaded areas."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

ours get turned off at midnight , no light at all0

The OP has to be on a wind up, no way can they be serious about this.0

Other downside for us astrophotographers is that we can't use our filters to remove light pollution on led lights. So although there is less sky glow, the frequencies of light can't be removed at source. New house doesn't have them outside but i imagine it's only a matter of time before the old ones are replaced.0

Of course I am serious, for 25 years I could go out to my greenhouse in the dark and read my thermometer when it was dark, now I need to take a torch to check the temperature in my greenhouse.
If my wife drops a clothes peg when taking in the washing when it is dark she can't see it on the ground because it is too dark.over 73 but not over the hill.0 -

1. What is wrong with taking a torch to your greenhouse? You could even leave one in there!
2. Surely washing should be brought in long before its dark enough to not be able to see a peg on the ground. Itll get damp if left out once dark.
Plus, leaving a peg out overnight won't hurt it. Theyre hardy things.0 -
Are you serious?
It's a street light, not a clothes peg hunting light!
