Can only get fibre with BT

Over a year ago I was looking to get fibreoptic broadband as we streamed all our TV. On every broadband checker I tried it said it wasn't available in our area.

I also tried each suppliers websites and they all said the same, except BT who offered us BT infinity. It has been really fast, and it was a good deal £10 per month. Now it's more than doubled I'm looking for a new provider. They all say I can't get it in my area.

So does that sound right? That I can only get it with BT?

Do you have FTTP or FTTC?

If the former then you are limited to only a few companies such as BT, Zen, A&A and one or 2 others I can't think of ATM

Sorry looks a bit crazy when I copied it.

Plusnet can't offer me fibre. Can't decide whether to put up with the high cost, or to switch back to regular broadband. It's been so great having fast internet.

You need to look for ISPs that supply FTTP as that is your only fibre option.

Thinkbroadband.com may have a fuller list than I mentioned of FTTP ISPs

Is your property a relatively 'new build' or a property that had existing 'copper pair' line and was retro provided with FTTP ?
If you are in a FTTP only property( if the house is 'new' then it may only have fibre and no copper ) then there are not many providers to chose from and BT are probably the cheapest that can offer service, if your property has access to both a copper and fibre service, it's unlikely that there will be FTTC and FTTP in your area , so you would have to get regular exchange based broadband from the provider of your choice
If a copper based service is available and you go down that route you may have to pay for a 'new' line to be installed ( a copper line rather than a fibre)

I don't believe that the Infinity products are available over FTTP.

    ETA
Confirmed by BT via live chat
BT Infinity 1 and 2 is a FTTC service (Fibre To The Cabinet). This means that a fibre cable from the exchange to your local green phone cabinet is installed and then the fibre speeds are delivered via a standard copper phone line from your cabinet to your home.

Is this is from a BT employee ?, If it is I think they are wrong, FTTP from 'BT' you can have Infinity 1 and 2 same speeds as FTTC customers, but you can also have Infinity 3 and 4 , upto (I think) 330Mb, Infinity 3 and 4 only available to FTTP customers,
Infinity being the BT brand name, other providers will call their FTTP service something else, even if it's delivered over the same OR infrastructure
