I've heard that they're good. You should do a search for the referral scheme on this site, as you can get £70 or so for signing up with some of the rather kind users of this site handing over some of their share of the sign-up bonus for referring you.

Just be careful out there ;)

Yant1 - nice of you to leave some profit on those AL. shares for the next man :-)

.....but seriously congratulations on making a profit in the current environment - I'm still a way off that, although almost breaking even today.

I hope that good old dithering dad is still sat on his AL. and HBOS purchases - not sure why I am calling him old - he's probably younger than me....dithering - over 2u :-)
    PLEASE DO NOT STEAL

Still alot of uncertainty about banks, AL. arnt offering competitive mortgages anymore and the 50p overdraft fee is !!!!ing off people, one of my work collegues is leaving them because of it after 15 years. Absolutely any bad news will see the bears return.

So I didnt want to take any further risk on it, 10K is a lot of money had it only been 3K i might have held out longer.

Im currently concentrating on the markets that historically do well in times of uncertainty,

888 and RNK as historically gambling companies are barely touched by a recession (i guess gamblers will always find the money to make a punt) both expecting good growth. Wasnt interested in party gaming, will hill or ladbrokes as they seem a bit more lardy.

CGM and to a small extent MCR, gold prices are high in times of economic uncertainty + investors are heading to emerging markets, labour is cheap in china. MCR seems just undervalued and im expecting the gold bull to hit it the more bad news hits the papers. My big hope is that CGM will double as I think the potentials there, but also the risk particularly political.

8 oz gold holding with a well known online bullion dealer.

Im really wishing I held on to my dragon oil, bought when it was a penny share doubled my money and they have surged again recently, could have had no mortgage lol!

Ps this isnt advise all these can go tits up just like any thing else!!!!!! do research and make your own judgements. Stockmarket aint for noobs or people that cant afford to lose all of their investment.

No idea. And no-one here is going to be able to give a simple yes or no answer either, because the nature of investing in a single company is that there is going to be extremely high risk compared to diversified investments.

If it goes up after you buy, it will have been worth it. If it goes down, it won't.

In the end it has to be your choice, but make that choice on the right decisions rather than simply assuming that bad runs must be followed by good.

There is some guy on Interactive Investor who's basically lost £80 - £90,000 gambling on this Stock.

Here's the link - if it works - You might have to register.

  • The old adage of eggs and the basket. I know of people that have lost 250K on the stock market in other times, yep they thought they were on to a good thing and then it blew up when the truth came out.

Its very difficult to put a price on something given the conditions NRK is facing, that is why I have stayed out of it. One thing is clear however no other bank has suffered the risk of not being able to borrow the money to fund its loan book through this period. This risk is enough to devalue it below its theoretical value as it is effective bankruptcy. Doesnt mean the other banks wont be taking a profit hit from these conditions, but most will be able to hide it by tweeking their other products.
