TV Licensing.

First off, apologies in advance if this thread is in the wrong place.
I have been trying to contact TV Licensing to make my monthly payment on my licence "bribe" which I do every month and pay on my debit card to prove beyond doubt that I have paid should they try to prosecute me for non payment.
I have spoken to no less than 10 "front line staff" who were bullying, and threatening me in to telling them who I am and my personal info when I only deal with one specific manager (who I know by name and have a direct line for) but has now strangely refused to take my calls for being allegedly "abusive". Stating, what is a fact, that I am not obliged to provide any details to speak to a manager is not abusive, nor is quoting the Data Protection Act and the Human Rights Act 1998.
While writing this, I got a call from 01772832000 which has been reported to be Iqor, some kind of debt recovery company who I told on 2nd September 2010 in writing never to contact me again and that if they did, I would file a complaint with the police for harassment and seek a court injunction against them.
The problem there is that I call this manager when I pay my monthly installment on my licence. I do it every 2 weeks like clockwork, now all the sudden this. Now they demand that I contact them in writing. Why on earth would I send them my debit card details in writing? Are they stupid or just plain fraudsters and criminals?
I have now refused to pay my licence until I get what I am entitled to and not be threatened or bullied by someone on the phone hundreds of miles away in a completely different county. I just don't understand this or the reasons for it. It's almost as though they get some kind of twisted satisfaction out of purposely annoying people.
I shall leave it there otherwise I will end up ranting, and I don't want to do that here.

I'm not sure if this is a joke or not, but I will answer as if it isn't.
Why are you under the impression that you are entitled to only pay your bill to one specific manager? What happens if this manager leaves.. will you be entitled to not pay your TV Licence?0 -
I only deal with managers... It's a personal preference thing.
I am not at liberty to deal with "customer service agents" when they treat me in the way that they do, I don't have to put up with it.0 -
You call TV Licensing every 2 weeks? Why would you do that to yourself? Wouldn't Direct Debit offer the protection you want without the ongoing hassle?
Am I correct in thinking that you called to pay as normal, asking to speak to the manager you normally deal with, and the front line staff have refused to put you through until you identify yourself? And then when you tried to argue your point they took it as abuse?
I would imagine that you don't have a legal right to speak to a particular individual, and it sounds like everything else is just bad customer service. What exactly do you want?
Regarding the debt collector - I don't think you can claim harassment just because you told them 6 years ago not to contact you again. This is presumably a different matter from your 2010 problem. If what you propose works, debt collectors become useless, debts don't get paid, businesses and services fail from lack of funding and capitalist society collapses.
Refusing to pay can only go badly for you. I understand your frustration but you do owe them money. Bad customer service won't change that - you're not paying for a good phone manner, you're paying to receive live TV broadcasts.0 -

There is no legal obligation for a manager to deal with you, they have a job to manage the team they have and not to process payments.
The structure has been put in place for you to be able to make payment - have you thought about paying it online, this will remove the need to talk to anybody.0 -

But don't you know who/how important the OP is - especially not having to talk to mere minions :rotfl:0 -

Apologies, I mean every 4 weeks.
As for paying by direct debit to TV licensing, you are having a laugh! I would rather be shot than give these CRIMINALS my banking details so that they can take money whenever they please.0 -

You do realise there is a direct debit guarantee?
Perhaps you would be better off paying by one of the other methods? You could even pay at a Paypoint outlet, no need to even speak to the "CRIMINALS" let alone their manager.0 -

Have a quick look at the Direct Debit Guarantee and you will see that they can't do that, that you are protected from unauthorised payments.0 -

I have heard that they have emptied peoples bank accounts in the past via this method.
@theonlywayisup... I understand what you are saying here, I have a tendency to lose receipts all the time, if i lost a TVL payment one, how would I prove I paid it if they mess up and say I have not paid? This is the reason I do it on my debit card with a manager so my bank will hold the record for me. It cant go missing then, not for at least 6 years anyway.0
