Returning perfume without receipt

After having a sort out I have dug out two new perfumes I have been given as gifts which I won't use (I'm fussy and stick to one). I had kept hold of these planning to regift but never have. I was going to put them on ebay but someone suggested exchanging them in a shop as they have done so. I obviously don't have the receipts as they were gifts and have no idea what shop they got them from. Would the barcode be different in each shop? Has anyone done this before? It would make it a lot easier for me as I could just swap for the one I like.

You have no rights to this as a) you are not the original purchaser and b) there is no right to a return for a change of mind/unwanted, unless one is offered by the retailer.
The plan to put them on eBay is the best as you have no proof of purchase/gift I think you'll find any shop reluctant to exchange them, especially as you don't even know which shop they came from.0 -
Highly unlikely you're going to get a return. You certainly don't have any legal right to.
No receipt (though you didn't buy it anyway) and also by your phrasing I would imagine you're over any return period which may be allowed by the shop, whatever shop it is0 -
Don't be silly of course you can't do that.
Put yourself in the shops shoes, a person walks in and says "I have this perfume I have no receipt but I want you to give me money for it"
Would you honestly respond with "of course, not a problem"0 -
I had thought as much, not quite sure how my friend managed it0

I have done it in debenhams and John Lewis with other items with no problem, usually an exchange then and there or a gift receipt0 -

Exchanges without receipts are not unheard of... i believe debenhams even have a section on their faqs for this where they confirm they will do so0

I am looking at the page as we speak and can confirm it does :rotfl:0 -
OP, if you hang on to them until after Christmas Boots will probably exchange them for a different perfume, they usually allow this up to mid January ish.
And for the record, I've taken back Chanel perfume to John Lewis and exchanged it for different Chanel products, no receipt, no problem.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
