I'd hazard a guess that out of all my wins ever, I've been notified by email about 80% of the time, 15% by phone and 5% have just turned up out of the blue. :)
  • I have had a couple of phone calls from Radio stations to say I have won when it is for tickets for something or once from Radio Aire for breakfast with Santa with my grandchildren. I have a seperate phone though and ignore the calls that are obviously from abroad.:)

Just checked my list and of the past 10 wins over £500, 8 of them I have been informed by phonecall first. One call was an abroad number informing me of a 5* hotel and flights to Barcelona, so I answer them also.
If it is a selling call just I say that I am only 12 years old( I was once many years ago) and they tend to go quite fast and not call back.
  • In all my time comping - goes back to about '97 - as far as I can tell I have only ever been notified twice by phone, once I just happened to be in and picked up the phone, it was a pewter bowl I'd won from a small company so in truth I was glad they caught me, the other was a bed won from a radio station, they left a message for me to call back and I did,.

All 3 of my radio wins, 2 x ticket wins and a £1000 win, were phone calls. Everything else was letter or email.

I've had a few wins that I've been informed of by a call.
I learnt to double check the tick boxes regarding contacting me and also if the form doesn't make my telephone number compulsory (if there's no asterisk/star next to the line then I don't enter my phone number.

Over the years I've won 3 times with Heart radio (nothing bigger than a hamper) and each time they rang during work so left a message and knew who I was when I called back. That's the only company that has called. These days I don't even win anything so can't say what it's like now, where have all the prizes gone??

Most of my WTC have come from radio stations some for small prizes (cinema tickets and a goody bag) and lovely bigger prizes (weekend in top hotel).

I have had a few others over the years but they are rare.
