I got the free breakdown cover too, without asking for it. They were totally confused when I asked for it to be removed. I wanted rid given that

    a) I already have breakdown cover
    b) It will cause problems next year when I want to see who is offering a good deal on breakdown cover and then find i already have 2 memberships with different companies
    c) I didn't ask for it.
    d) It doesn't cover the level I want in any case.

Oddly, they wouldn't knock any money off my insurance policy for not having the 'free' (read 'already built into the premium') cover.

It covers just about everything look under PHRS in the "rescue" booklet. Basically breakdown cover, at home or away from home, recovery if the car cant be repaired, and help with onward transport if you prefer, hire car, train or hotel. If you want to add European cover you can call them and upgrade at a cost of £47:25.

Might as well have kept it, it provides comprehensive cover and if you were unfortunate enough to break down you could phone both your breakdown cover providers and then cancel the un needed callout when the first one arrived. Also if you breakdown frequently you could split the callouts between the 2 and avoid any fair use policy. Surely not that hard to deduct the amount from any calculations next year.

Maybe I'm missing something but as you got nothing back I cant see why you would not want it !!

I did my daughter's insurance through the Pru through Quidco and all is well, the cashback is tracked and due in Nov and the free breakdown cover came through separately but quickly without any prompts. Good luck.

Is the quidco in your name? and the policy in daughters name without you as named driver?

My wife insured our car through Prudential via Quidco and it Tracked at £130 within about 12 hours.

Who was the policy holder and who was the quidco account holder?
  • My prudential payment has been validated for months and the estimated payment month is November. Only a few days left though and still no money received.

Does this mean I may not get it?

I (and my partner) got our (two) Pru car insurance Quidco cashbacks with no problems. I wouldn't be overly concerned.

I just went back to check what the timeline was so that you can see what happened and when for me.

Bought policies on 20 and 29 Aug - payment date shown on Quidco 1 Nov - both in our bank accounts on 5 Nov.

I think that Quidco only do their payments out to members once a month (around the first business day). If you haven't been paid by now in Nov, I reckon you'll get your payment in early Dec.

    Cheers

  • The problem is, it seems Quidco never answer the tickets you raise. That is the only way to contact them so it all seems a bit of a farce. I know tha with Quidco no payment is "gauranteed" but with £130 that is owing I will be pretty peed off if I dont get it.
