Brexit Loons getting their paws into banking

Apparently, the Brexit loonies now want banks and other financial institutions to check on the immigration status of their customers.
I'm looking foward to this and hearing other loony announcements from HM Government that highlight the benefits of being an 'independent country' again.

I count as an immigrant and I have accounts with just about every bank (incl the one you work for) and with many building societies. Not once in the last 28 years have I ever been asked by any of them for any documents that confirm my immigration status. How they would have checked it without me providing these documents is a mystery to me as there is no central database of any sort that contains this information. Furthermore, EU citizens have the right to settle without even a residence permit. At least they do so far.0 -
