My commute's only 8-9 miles... but can take 50 minutes on a bad day!0 -
Isn't it funny that everyone is listening to the Bbc, and yet whenever we've had a thread on here discussing licence fees, loads of people begrudge paying for them.
I don't begrudge a penny!Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
I try to get the average mpg as high as possible, takes my mind off the fact I'm driving a long way."I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by."0

Leaving early enough and then a bit earlier , never travelling on a Friday afternoon when the lemmings come out to drive like their back sides are on fire and crash into each other with boring regularity.
Clean windows inside and out before leaving, car vacuumed so it smells fresh, auto gearbox a must.
Take your time, there is nothing more tiring/stressing than pushing or being pushed.
Plenty of drinks along the way, depending on time of travel knowing where to stop to get a proper bacon'n'egg buttie with lashings of Daddies sauce and a big steaming mug of real tea, being careful to avoid motorway service area hell as much as possible.
Plan your own route, satnav has its uses as a pocket sized street atlas but should never be used to plan a route, if there are hold ups use your loaf and think laterally for diversions, the satnav hordes will only go the alternatives that satnav tells them, so those alts will be jammed too.
For music i'll have anything from Phantom to my old Alice Cooper albums playing.
Never listen to or watch anything from the state broadcaster, being forced to pay annually for the propaganda broadcast of the day isn't for me ta, but each to their own.0 -

Maths.
I look at those road signs that say 'x miles to the next junction' etc. Then look at my speed and work out how long it will take. If i slow down or speed up because of traffic i recalculate. when i see another road sign i recalculate and see how accurate i am.
I know its pathetic. I just like to keep my brain busy, particularly on motorways.0 -
Cruise control. Soft drinks available to stay hydrated. Sweets. Someone reading occasional snippets from the newspaper. Absolute 80s on DAB. Pleasant breaks - we discovered the Gloucester Services this trip.
And a goal to the journey, be travelling somewhere you really want to go.
Scrub that, I've just read that this is a commute. Work is never somewhere you really want to go!!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
