Mooooooorrrrnning! Yay to it being Saturday :j Feel like I've been really productive - but the reality is I haven't! Have tidied up and vacuumed kitchen & hung up some washing
Supposed to be doing a scarecrow treasure hunt in the local gardens but think the other's are reneging due to the weather. I might just wrap up warm and go anyway. We can wear wellies, put our hoods up if it rains and wear gloves. Get out of the house (so dgd doesn't get cabin fever) and its free
I have a confession we put the heating on for 1/2 hour last night :eek: it was so bl00dy cold!
In other news...
* all meals from stores
* check meal plan
* get something out of the freezer for tomorrow
* think I will pop to a*di for their super 6. Might do some cooking/freezing/blanching as they have sprouts, parsnips, swede
* make apple plait
* taking gd to the library
* check through the fridge & make sure nothing is going to perish - freeze or use!
* games, film and general family time this arvo
* usual weekend clear up
* was supposed to be having a thorough clean up of the garden - putting summer things away but so miserable out there...

Afternoon all (just!)
Woke up feeling a bit bleurrgh, but walked to the post office this morning, to try to wake myself up. Didn't really work, so I have just taken a paracetamol!
Returned tops I bought at Mr S yesterday, got a refund. In natural light, they looked very poor quality, and didn't look nice on
Bought acouple of YS bargains while there - frying steak and pork loin, each reduced to one pound something (we don't get ever things reduced to pence here, like some lucky people who write on these boards)
Listed another item on ebay
Still to do:
Harvest rest of spring onions Done, not many, just a decent sized bunch. All washed and in the fridge ready for use now
Plant garlic Done, may plant more in the spring if I have room!
Make fish cakes for teaDone, used up a couple of white fish fillets of indeterminate species, a couple of anchovies from the freezer, together with a couple of potatoes, parsley from the garden and a tablespoon of chopped capers, coated in just breadcrumbs and cooked on the griddle with no fat or oil - very nice they were, too!
Do some cleaningCleaned the loo and did a bit of dusting - better than nothing, right?
Check fridge for anything that needs using up Done, all ok
Listed a few more bits on ebay
Cut back another lavender bush
Got rid of 1 big pot of French beans which had completely finished. In composter. Also 1 chilli plant which was definitely not going to overwinter.
Now sat in front of wood stove toasting feet (dog toasting belly at the same time :rotfl:). 'Free' cuppas as I have the kettle bubbling away on top
Get an early night!0 -
For me this week my small things were:
- keeping a daily check on bank/ credit card balances (I pay on card and pay in full so make sure I transfer money to an account to cover the balance as payments reach the card.
- requested current settlement figure on bank loan to see how much would cost versus total remaining payments (£1463.50 versus 1503.50 - £40 saving so have decided against)
- had an evening in rather than go to the pub on an evening often go/Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0 -
Afternoon everyone
I slept awfully last night, awake from 2.30 - 4.30 and didn't get much sleep after that! Met up with some friends for lunch today, only a Mcdonalds (treat!) so didn't cost the earth which was good and then my friend treated up all to muffins, yummy! Back home now though so bits to do are:
- Check bank account
- Surveys/Swagbucks
Chill out - Watch films on Sky to make the most of the subscription

Hi Weekend Penny-Wranglers,
Grocery shopping just about on budget. Free coffees & newspaper at Waitrose. Mr f has been up the ladder with the apple-picking pole, handing them down to me for loading crate. Tons more on tree but will deal with these ones first. Brown sauce currently bubbling on the hob & have wrapped the best apples for storage.
Ready to sit down now. Have developed annoying pain in my heel. It's mr f's cooking night & I'm thinking feet up, a bit of TV Scandi-crime & knit more of Mum's present.
Was annoyed to miss cat's favourite food being on offer at Wilko's. £2.70 the other week when like a total spoon I didn't buy any. Now back up to £4.85 which is more than Waitrose. Bah!! (But am often in Wilko's so will keep looking)
Cheers,

oooo exciting
really want to pick all the apples on the communal trees - no one else is! - but already have so many!
pleased with my food efforts tonightused chickpeas I burnt slightly the other day
in a chickpea, potato & spinach curry, used a bit of leftover pasta from last night to serve it with, also some rice which I used the old style tip of boiling the water and leaving it to cook in the water rather than keeping the hob burning - if you haven't tried this do!
Have a big saucepan of curried lentil, parsnip and apple soup on the hob now. 1st attack of the sup3r 6 picked up earlierblanching tomorrow - I've never blanched anything!

Evening people:wave::wave:
I used to post here a while ago (well, years ago!) and I need to get myself back in a more MSE-way of living.
I live with my 2 daughters, one of whom has just left for uni in London, so just me and the 17 year old. So, less tax credits and housing benefit for me...hence the need to sort myself out again!
I used to be good at having NSDs so I'll be aiming for more of those. Dd2 has money from her weekend job, though she's in between jobs now as that one was refusing to lower her hours at weekends and she's in 2nd year of sixth form, needs time to work! 19hours over the weekend and then Mon-Fri at school was wearing her out:o But, she has money for herself so I should be able to spend much less.
Ok, enough of that....here are my small things for his weekend:Food shopping in L1dl for the 1st time - I'm well and truly converted! Spent £20
No takeaway - made my own chicken fried rice with spring rolls last night and just nibbles tonight as dd is out.
get washing out on the line to dry
check eBay listing...get more bits on there
cinema today (both of us used NUS cards for discount;))
baked a banana loaf for my Mums birthday
pack up returns for N£xt...I don't need the stuff:p
Ok, ink that's my lot for now! Happy weekend everyone:beer:I really need to sort out a new signature!0
