Advice please on making a car insurance claim
Hello all,
I have sadly dented my less than a year old qashqai , due to parking error. It happended twice during the last month and there are dents now to the rear passenger door & driver door. I have asked around for quotes in the few nearest bodyshops including nissan approved bodyshops and have been quoted around £2000. I have been told that the front door need replacing whereas the rear door can be repaired.
Firstly, I would like to know if this is a fair quote?
Secondly,I'm insured with aviva and not sure if I should make a claim.
My excess is £200/claim & the first claim does not affect the NCB on my policy. So I'm not sure whether to claim both the damage as a single claim rather than 2 separate ones, eventhough they were two separate parking incidents.
Also I believe with Aviva, if I want the bodywork to be done where I want to rather than their garages, I have to pay £200 extra /claim I think. So overall It will cost me atleast £800 upfront for 2 claims, I think.
So not sure, whether to claim as my premium etc, will go up in the future or pay the whole amount myself. Any suggestions very much appreciated.
I have the pics of the car but not sure how to attach it

If they were to find out they may well cancel your policy.
This would result in you having to declare this cancelled policy whenever taking out insurance in the future, something that will mean either increased premiums or insurers declining to cover you.0 -
If I make 2 claims , does anyone know how much my insurance would go up by in the future & how long I'm likely to pay the increased premium for??0

The implications are a possible criminal fraud charge (unlikely to go that far but possible all the same), a very nasty marker on your insurance record meaning few insurers will touch you in future and those that will charging an arm & two legs, and your current insurer cancelling the current policy putting another marker on your record.
Bear in mind that it's going to be really quite hard to come up with a scenario where you've damaged front o/s and rear n/s doors in a single incident, without another car involved, and without causing damage elsewhere as well. They WILL notice that and they WILL look closely if you try to claim that's what happened.
If you can afford to pay it yourself then do so, if you can't afford to then play it straight with the insurers.0 -
If you don't want to make two claims, there is another possibility.
Find out which repair will be the most expensive and claim for that one but before the car goes in for repair, speak to someone in the garage that will be doing the work and ask for an estimate for the 2nd job, making sure that they know what is happening.
It might work out cheaper this way as they will already be working on the car and will have the bodyshop and sprayshop already booked for the first job.
