This but book online before you go. Then happily skip past everyone waiting in the queue and walk straight in ;)

You can even book at some ATMs.

Forgot to mention... get yourself a T10. Not so much a what but a how. Very cheap way to get around. A T10 is a "carnet" metro ticket that gives you 10 journeys for just under 10 euros. You can even share a carnet with your son and pass it back.

Also, if you were to say go to Parc Guell, you could get off at Lesseps and take the bus straight to the park. You just re punch your ticket on the bus and because it all takes place within a short time (90 mins I think) then it counts as one journey, not two.

If you arrive at the old terminal, or take the bus from the new airport terminal, you can also use a T10 on the train. T10 cannot be used on the metro from the airport, though it can be used elsewhere, so the bus or tube into Barcelona using those is about 5-6 euros, compared to 1 journey on a T10. You can buy T10s at the train station at the airport, metro stations and I think some shops for use on buses (I always get mine at a station so not sure on this last point).

If you go to Parc Guell, there are some parts of it you have to pay to enter. We were there at about midday yesterday, and they were selling tickets for entry at 1600. I'm sure there must be a way of buying tickets in advance.

zagfles - what do recommend as an appropriate tip for this tour ?
Up to you but I tend to give 5-10 Euros pp, depending on group size and how good the tour was.

We buy our tickets online, 7 euros per person (adult). Website is https://www.parcguell.cat. You can also buy a timed guided tour for 14 euros.

Just back from my 6th trip to barcelona and it was the first time i visited parc guell and i thought it was meh! You can see a lot of the park from the free area so personally i would save your cash.

Sant pau hospital is worth a visit along with sagrada familiar of course.

Also recommend montjuic if you dont like heights get the 150bus from placa espanya Another reccomendation is for the bunkers del carmel for an unrivalled view of barcelona

When ever someone mentions barcelona the 1st thing they say is about pickpockets etc but its a bit of a tired cliche you just need to be as cautious as you would be in any big city.

Any idea how much a taxi is from the airport to the centre (H10 Casanova Hotel to precise)
There's a regular A2 bus that is almost door to door but I'm worried I'll mess it up and get moaned at by the other half for being tight.
Don't mind paying for a taxi as long as it's not silly money.
