Belisha beacons flashing in my bedroom at night!

... or even duct taping?
OP, the light will not be kept out by curtains which are so far away from the window. The blackout blind/curtain/whatever needs to be as close to the window as possible, as has been said; curtain tracks, not poles is the way to achieve this. Even this will not stop light leakage from the top (or bottom if the curtains are not long enough) only a pelmet will do that.
Good luck getting the council to remove belisha beacons or to stop them from flashing; it is kind of the whole point of them, otherwise they would be called lights.0 -

Smodlet, they did a consultation which we didn't see. There were other objections from other residents who are actually not affected and put the hoods and louvres in for their benefit. If we'd have known about the consultation we'd have certainly objected. They didn't have to install Belisha Beacons. We'd assumed it would be a Pelican Crossing outside a school. There is no need for the Beacons to even be on at night as the road is very quiet then. And for your information when the Beacons were invented they DIDN'T flash. Look it up on Wiki. That wasn't the point of them. Btw, it's the highways people and not the council who've responded to us so will see what happens..."First they came for the Socialists..."0 -
Not if two ducks worked in tandem, it wouldn't... have you never watched a cartoon, phil? It wouldn't be as good as the skiing pigeon, though.0

Duct Tape and Duck Tape are largely interchangeable terms and both are correct.
Duck Tape is as widely available as Duct Tape.
In fact, according to this, Duct Tape was initially called Duck Tape. I cannot vouch for the veracity of that site.
Either will do the OPs job.0
