Have a look in Kiddiecare, Mothercare (other children's shops are available) and see if you can pick up some blackout blinds that stick to window with suction cups. We use these when grandchildren visit and they are very effective.0

Thanks Le Kirk - that's a great suggestion and one I hadn't thought of"First they came for the Socialists..."0

Buy black out curtains the size of the window (or cut down to size). Attach velcro to the frame (along the top) and sew/stitch some to the curtains and voila!0

Curtains which hang from a pole, with eyelets, will almost always spill more light into the room around the top than a pair of curtains which hang from a curtain track, because the curtain track (and thus the material) is far more parallel with the wall.
Consider whether replacing the pole / curtains with a curtain track would work, if the other cheaper and easier fixes don't work first.0 -

Just follow the helpful advice given and get proper blackout blinds.0

but newly installed Belisha beacons flash
When installing or modifying crossings on roads for which the council is responsible, they are required to give notice of the work prior to installation, probably to allow for comments from the public.

Something to try, see if it helps - a little drop of fairy liquid in water, use it to stick regular tinfoil to the window glass. Easily removed, but it'll mean you can try it for a few nights and if it works for you get a proper blackout blind fitted.
I've also found a Mindfold (expensive face mask) is actually much better than the normal in-flight cheapies, I wear mine from 4am every morning at the peak of summer :-$0 -

Thanks Shaun. I never thought of that, but of course that's exactly right. Everyone knew they were planning on putting a crossing outside the school but we imagined it would be a pelican crossing for children."First they came for the Socialists..."0 -
Thanks paddyryg...yes I am using a facemask at the moment which suffices after a fashion but thanks for the recommendation as I think I need a better one"First they came for the Socialists..."0
