I knew you had been through a rough time, but I cannot believe the Council have treated you so shoddily after your recent experiences.
Have you spoken to your Councillor and to your MP? Councils have to respond to an MP's enquiry within a certain timescale - when I worked in a Council Homeless dept (2004, so have not offered advice as things may have changed) my boss used to leap into action when a Councillor rang, and jump a mile high when we had an MP letter.
Good luck, let us know how you get on, we're all thinking of you.

OUr homeless dept don't like it when we ring up to book an appointment, esp if we get one for a Friday afternoon!!!!
I remember it well. The mad panic to see if there was a room free in the family unit of the homeless hostel we used to have, just in case they had to do something right away.
I assume that you work for a housing advice centre of some sort ??

As your letter to council states re landlord having sold the house I don't see how you could be seen to be intentionally homeless. Presumably you have something written from him/ to do with court that says he has sold? Good luck tomorrow.Torgwen..........

The letter is great, wow you've been through it haven't you! I do hope the council listen to you. I seriously can not believe they are making you go through this. Do phone the MP, make an appointment to go and see him/her. I would also send a copy of your letter to the MP. I know the thought of involving social services is scary, but they are there to help families. Besides, it sounds to me as if your children do need protecting... from the bloody council! I honestly can not get my head around this situation, I had always felt that our councils, warts and all, were there to help those in genuine need. Do please PM me if I can be of any help, I'll do whatever I can. We have a van here and a bit of garage space if you need that and you can always come and bunk down here for a while until the bloody council sort their ideas out. Let me know what I can do for you and your children.:A

That is a great letter, make sure you cc it to your county councilor, mp and local newspaper! Nothing like adding a little pressure, and so what if the housing department get a rocket, they flipping deserve it.
Thinking of you tomorrow

Morning all,
Thanks for replies and for your support again!
I have sent emails this morning to the local County Councillor and the MP and attached a copy of the letter to the Council - here's hoping! I will also phone the CC later - ironically I know one of the local CC's but he doesn't deal with Housing (although I did email him t'other night to ask for some info - not replied yet!).
Don't what more I can do - any suggestions MORE than gratefully received :TChristians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -

Thanks annie - must admit I don't feel amazing! I just hope that it won't be too long before I can look back on this and think 'Wow! We got through it and we're fine'
Meant to say I had a phone call from the LL's selling agents yesterday saying they want to bring someone round on Monday afternoon - I asked if it was the surveyor for the purchasers and he replied no they've pulled out due it taking so long (6 weeks since they offered) and that it is another intrested party. Said that would be fine and he asked me twice if I would be here. Now I'm wondering if it was a call to check whether I'm actually leaving on Monday :undecided .Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
Hi MOT, I have not posted on this before because I really didn't know what to write.
What I do want to say though is "thank you" to all the DFW peeps and others that have come over from other boards, for the help and support they are giving you - from points of law and experience in working in that particular sector, to offering you floorspace and garage space to stop you being out on the streets.
This site is fab, and Martin should be very proud of it. Things like this thread just go to show the extent of the support.
I hope you get sorted out soon MOT. Be strong xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
