Not sure what's so great about paying £9.99 (inc. delivery) for two polyester filled pillows when I can get two from Wilkinsons for £8 http://www.wilko.com/pillows/wilko-ultra-bounce-pillow-2pk-48-x-74cm/invt/0324887

Just after Aldi opened near me, I wandered in and they had a "pack" of a double quilt and two pillows for £7.50. Bought one of those.... bought for the "spare room" - which has no bed or curtains still .... but in case one day I do have a visitor and a bed/curtains in there and suddenly need a quilt. Otherwise I'll use it myself.
  • I bought a double duvet and although it was blissfully warm through the winter, I have noticed the stitching is starting to come undone. Not sure what the life on this duvet is but it feels like it's a second to me.

Annual income 20 pounds, annual expenditure 20 pounds ought and six, result misery."

  • Definitely got what I paid for here!

Two 'easycare' pillows £8, ordered two packs. Delivery was good, 3 days. Vacuum packed, left two days now and very poor, not filled out at all. Like the pillows you get in cheap 'single duvet & pillow' student type packs. Two inches of space left in the cover.

Could have got same from supermarket
and saved myself the £3.99 delivery but entirely my own fault, as the saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is !
  • I wonder if anyone actually thinks how these company's get so many feathers and down???

I have seen videos of it being ripped from the still alive animals...

Now buy and lovely cheap duvet

Yes, people do think about it and it has been discussed on this thread...

How do I know that the feathers and down used is not plucked from live birds? This seems to be common practice and I don't think I could sleep easy under that cruelty. Only two well known brands ensure that products used are by products of food preparation (i.e. Animals already slaughtered). Are you the third?

I emailed and got this response:

We have an ethical policy that governs its trading relationships with suppliers.

All duck and goose feather and down used in Fogarty product is produced as a by-product of the food industry. Fogarty does not buy direct from farms or abattoirs but only from approved feather-processing suppliers where its purchasing conditions prohibit the supply of live plucked material.

The company’s main sources of feather and down are from Asia where live plucking is not generally practised and birds are killed before processing. In Eastern Europe the practice of live plucking is more commonplace, however many farms are subject to TUV certification scheme which covers best practice for animal husbandry. Although Fogarty uses a small quantity of European down such raw materials are also obtained via its suppliers in Asia and are subject to its normal trading conditions. All Fogarty feather and down suppliers in Asia are also subject to routine ethical audits and ISO 9001 quality accreditation.

I ordered the 13.5 tog 'eco' duvet (two duvets - 4.5 + 9 tog) for the bargain price of £15.73 including P&P. Ordered at 1.25am on Wednesday 16th November, delivered by UK Mail next day, lunchtime today, 17th. Can't fault the service!

No problems copy/pasting the discount code or paying via PayPal.

The duvets were packaged in plain plastic wrapping and have no tags but there was a sheet of paper with wash instructions.

The duvets are light and fluffy and the thicker one in particular feels very cosy. They are well made with a lovely soft cotton cover. They have large poppers in the corners to join them up for winter.

I haven't used an 'eco' duvet before but for that price I wanted to give them a try and so far it's a thumbs up from me.

    Thanks MSE!

A year after my purchase I am still impressed! The two duvets have seen me through all the seasons perfectly. They wash well and are still as fluffy as they were new. The lighter duvet is the perfect weight for summer. The 9 tog is great for the chillier side of spring and autumn. The combined 13.5 tog saw me through the last winter and will again this year although the 9 tog is so cosy I'm still using it on its own at the end of November.

I will definitely buy this eco duvet again if and when mine needs replacing.

  • Got my King Size duvet for £13 I think a while ago after the last offer and when it came it was a Fogarty duvet! It's very soft, warm and exactly what I was after - absolutely delighted so I've ordered 2 more today! Lynne. x
  • I just tried to purchase a “13.5 tog 'Super Soft' duvet* - £9 (double), £12 pre-code”. The cost is actually:

13.5 Tog Super Soft Winter Duvet
    Size Double (200 x 200cm) £12.00
    Subtotal £12.00
Shipping & Handling (UK Mail - Standard) £3.99
    Grand Total Excl. Tax £13.32
    VAT Standard (20%) £2.67
    Grand Total Incl. Tax £15.99

and the code MSEFLASH does not work!

    Not happy!!!
  • MSEFLASH isn't working for me, either

Not working for me either - annoyingly it did apply last night but I wanted to sleep on it before committing, and now it won't accept the code. I emailed but got a bounce back from a fogarty address. Cheesed off to be honest!
