CPZ Sign, I dont understand

I don't understand 'CPZ'??0

I also get confused by these signs and which bits apply when. Take the 2nd sign, the permit or pay at meter restriction is between 9-5, which is 8 hours, so you could pay for those 8 hours and be ok. It then says max 8 hours, so if you arrived 9 and paid to park until 5, could you then stay until 10p.m. or whatever, as it is outside the restriction time?0
-
I think the maximum stay is 8 hours even outside the restricted times maybe to prevent overnight stays Someone else will say he/she thinks like ^^^ this. The sign is confusing, it should stipulate exactly when the maximum stay is in force.0

i was under the impression it is permit holders only 24-7 but you can park between 9-5 using pay meter ?
or is this totally wrong
I might just email Hammersmith and Fulham council just to make sure
thank you0 -
I've seen signs just like the ones in first post which are not in a CPZ. Without the proper cpz signs how would you know?
Or have I misunderstood the OP's question?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
from the Hammersmith and Fulham council site
https://www.lbhf.gov.uk/parking/pay-and-display/parking-zone-times-and-charges
Zone V
Monday to Friday
9am to 5pm £1.10 per 1/2 hour
Zone J
Monday to Friday
9am to 5pm £1.10 per 1/2 hour
Parking in each zone is free of charge outside the controlled times.
The maximum stay for pay and display parking is eight hours, unless otherwise indicated. On-street pay and display charges do not apply on bank holidays, unless otherwise indicated:
* including bank holidays.
** including bank holidays, except for Christmas Day and Easter Sunday.0 -
OK it seems everyone is pretty confused by these signs. I often park near Wimbledon Park station. The parking restriction sign covers resident parking permits, pay and display and shows a maximum stay of a couple of hours. The sign was similar to the 2nd one in the OP but with a shorter window, 11a.m.-3p.m.
I really couldn't work out if/when I could park so emailed Merton Council, who replied:
Dear Mr Pompey,
The controlled hours for Parking Zone P1 are from 11:00am until 3:00pm Monday to Friday (inclusive). During these times vehicles parked in resident or pay and display bays must display a valid parking permit or ticket to park.
Outside of these hours (including Saturday and Sunday) parking restrictions covering resident or pay and display bays are not enforceable.
Yours sincerely

So it seems from Merton council that the only time ANY restriction is in place is during the times on the sign.0 -

I was trying to understand if this sign is needed or just the ones in the OP.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
