GCSE retakes in an FE College

Your daughter did A levels, which is very different from a 'Not Very Qualified' course at a college.
Maybe I should let you tell that to my son, who did in fact fail his English. Would be nice of you to make him feel worse than he already does!!!!
OP.
At my sons FE college, they only resist maths and English and only if they didn't get the C grade.
As this is due to government guidelines stating they should all achieve C in these subjects..
By all means ask for resits but as they won't be gov't funded it will possibly cost you.0 -

I think that it's an aspect of suggesting resits that hadn't occurred to him/her, so worthwhile pointing it out.0 -

I don't think telling you that if you can't post correct information to keep quiet is anyone throwing their toys out of the pram .....except you taking umbrage at getting told you are completely wrong :rotfl:
Would you really prefer your inaccuracies were accepted as correct for the sake of a quiet life and risk damaging a young person's future ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I'd be more concerned that he's either got a mother who can't spell, or he's at a college where they resist Maths and English!0 -
To Spirit (the OP). You sound a lovely person and it is to be commended that you want to ensure your niece can pursue her career dreams. I can't believe some of the comments that you are having to read.
As others have said, it probably will not be necessary for any resits. If you can, why not arrange to visit your niece and contact the college together to clarify whether any extra qualifications will be needed. It sounds like she may need a bit of extra support to see her through this time and it is lovely you are willing to be involved.0 -
I do think you should encourage your niece to look at career guidance at college. As she did better than expected she may not be aware of all her options as school would have likely given guidance based on GCSE results expected .

As has been said, one poster is giving the OP information which is 20 years or more out of date.
The course your niece is on is GCSE equivalent. As she already has a C in the two core subjects; Maths and English, it would be a waste of time for her to re sit the others.
To achieve across the board Merits on a level 2 course is not always easy, and to achieve distinction across the board is very hard indeed. So, rather than consider doing extra resits she should concentrate on doing the best she can on her current course.
Once she has that course under her belt she can decide what her next step will be, in any field of her choice.0 -
duchy, I suspect that you, like Person_one, have been reprimanded on this site in the past, am I right? warnings for rudeness? temporary bans from posting?
You need to grow up and adjust your posting style rather than attack other people.0 -

I suspect that other posters are a little frustrated that you appear to be giving advice on a subject you clearly know very little about. If the OP takes onboard your comments and advises her niece accordingly it will be completely the wrong course of action and could be very detrimental to her future.0
