You got a nice !!!! there buddy!0

No one complains when I use creosote.....
.......but then, there's not really anyone to complain.
Compared with comfrey water fertilizer, creosote is Chanel No.5. Water with the comfrey stuff first, and then your wife will plead with you to creosote the fence to kill the sewage-like pong.0 -
So in short don't worry about it then
Just one thing i will ask though ...
The back of the fence panels drops down on to the neighbours garden. Is there any chance of water running off the panels &...
1) killing their grass?
2) staining their patio?
It's pretty gloopy stuff & i don't want their nice patio to end up stained brown the first time it rains.0 -
Gosh, I don't know about the staining, but I imagine there is some contamination to run-off, which will likely injure grass by direct contact, but I don't think the effects would travel far.
I think you'd have to test the run-off from a test piece on something like concrete to see if staining occurs.0 -

Thanks.
I know some like to throw the 'you think too much' at me, which is like water off a DucksBack (seehwtaididthere? I'llgetmycoat) but seriously - for the gate down the side of the house i couldn't give a monkeys, however i'm not a total A-hole & i like to put a little thought into whether painting the dividing fence with it will impact on the neighbours a little more beyond just the smell of it. We have to live together, sort of, so i'd rather not just jump right in on it.
I'll test my test piece
I imagine it'll totally depend. If applied in the middle of summer (so a 2 week span MAX then!!) when it's baking, then i'd think it'd soak in well to the wood & dry out good before any rain hits it, but if i was applying over winter time (i plan on getting the fencing delivered in November) then it may be a little different.
At any rate, i don't want to upset the neighbours unless i have to.0 -
if it's getting delivered apply before it goes up, both sides laying flat with time between sides.0

Yeah I made that mistake with the old gate - stood it on edge & then it became badly warped.
Have the current one face down flat while I wait on getting round to hinging & hanging.0 -
I had 1/2 a gallon of Creocote, not creosote, left in the garage.
Daughter bought a bare wood duck house and no, she didn't claim it on expenses;).
I too have no time for coloured water stains that folks think protect timber. Gave her the creocote, my old man kept hundreds of chickens and all the sheds were creosoted so was happy that creocote would be safe once dry.
What I didn't know was that they intended to over paint it with the opaque crap stuff. I assumed it would bleed through as creosote would, but it was done in light green and white and looks perfect.
Ok cost more overall but protection and good looks can't be bad.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

That was until I applied it to a piece of wood.
There's no over painting that stuff! Lol. It's so gloopy I can't see any water based stuff covering it. I don't know how creocote compares but that 100% coal tar stuff I tried out - can't see any water getting through that! Lol0 -

No, I understand, that's why I didn't expect creocote to be any different, but it is. It was meant as info for anyone considering that rather than creosote proper;);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
