If you discussed things in an adult way and didn't sound like my stroppy teenager, people wouldn't post the replies they do.
Try being a bit more mature. think before you post, people aren't going to rush out and change their phones just because you say Android is rubbish. I know you'll find this hard to believe, there are people who think Apple are rubbish. One thing they are very good at is brainwashing.0 -
If you click on the link posted earlier in the thread it shows a dock that has a 3.5mm jack and works with older versions of iPhones.
What I'm thinking now is that my 5s will be my last iPhone, when it comes to its replacement in the future I just don't need to go to this proprietary extreme. Unless... the Android phone makers also go down equally silly routes, so making them as locked in as Apple stuff anyway.0 -
Or you could use the adapter that comes with the 7 and plug any headset onto it.Couldn't find a link (except to the £49 dock). But could find photos of an adapter that supposedly comes with the iPhone 7. It does not allow what I originally asked about - listening on earphones (e.g. in bed) while at the same time leaving it on charge.

You mean the one posted on page one of this thread?
Regardless.Apple will likely drop the lightening port in favour of USB C soon.0 -

Yeah it's the £49 dock that has a 3.5mm headphone socket on the back and allows you to charge it. It's not something I would want to use but it does allow what you want to do.0 -

Yes I read a recent article saying that USB C standard will soon include audio. But Apple using something totally standard? Hmmm...

Actually I have a Macbook in the house with a USB-C socket. It was quite hard to get a good lead/adaptor for it.
On a phone though? It would rather point up the fact that Apple iPhones prevent people straightforwardly transferring data in and out via USB memory sticks or drives.0
