agarnett - put a tinfoil hat on your PC to make sure MS don't 'secretly' re-enable the free upgrade programme, and stop scaring people. You claim to be on a crusade to protect 'the normal people' like you, from MS, and anyone you think works in IT, who are MS apologists in your eyes. All you've done for any 'normal people' (you're not one) is add confusion. Stop it!Once again MSE techie guys to the rescue.

As fightsback says, defragging is NOT for SSDs. Don't ever do it. You'll not break it, just wear it out more than you should.0 -

Absolutely no need to defrag, that only pertains to old fashioned hard disk drives and is not relevant to SSD's.
Uninstall fraggler from your system as it is entirely unnecessary. Only TRIM is needed to free up blocks for writing and windows 10 & 7 handles this very well on it's own.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
Word of the day - defraggler - I prefer it to defrag!0

The Microsoft 'Optimize Drives' utility does do useful maintenance on SSDs and actually does occasionally defrag them. It's aware of SSDs and what they are.
The advice not to defrag SSDs is probably relevant to Windows XP but not so much nowadays. It's more complicated than that.

That said I'd leave Windows to its own devices and definitely wouldn't install any 3rd party defrag tools.0
